Annoying Notification sound...how to stop it, when it's not listed?

    Folks,

I run Macrium backup on my PC. It runs a scheduled backup at either 0200 and/or 0400, depending on the schedule and the type of backup (full or incremental).

Running Win10, 1903, v 18362.239 (and in all previously installed versions, about 2 or 3 years' worth), Macrium ALWAYS gives an audible "windows chime" when it starts and completes its backup.

The "Notifications & actions" settings page does NOT SHOW Macrium. (It dropped out when I upgraded from 1809 to 1903???)

Even when it showed Macrium, I had Macrium set ONLY to "Banners". There should be NO SOUND, NO CHIME.

Yet, every day at 0200 (if applicable) and at 0400, my machine lets out a loud "boing" chime.

How do I get rid of this annoyance?

Why is there a notification for something not listed in my notification settings? (Yes, I want to SEE that it backed up, but I don't want to get awakened by the sound.)

    Thanks,

    Ken

Just guessing here - but could be a setting in Macrium (Try changing it to something else, then reboot, then change it back, then reboot again), or it could be a scheduled task that's running at those times (look in taskschd.msc).

    Unfortunately, those links don't help.

I -want- the banner. I -don't want- the noise. Additionally, the application is not even LISTED in the notification area.

Did you manage to find a solution? having the same issue, i want to turn off BOTH the banner and chime but i am also missing an option to switch this off only for Macrium Reflect within Windows 10 notifications settings.

Read through it but it's no help because those people all had a slider settings specifically for Macrium whereas i have nothing at all, searching in regedit does not help either as there is no AppDB.

Could be the notification about Macrium will start (that 15 or so second delay)

You can prevent that in Macrium settings.. knowledgebase.macrium.com/display

Found a solution for anyone interested.

Unfortunately, the updates in Windows 10 has changed the way it interacts with the backup notifications, you can only disable them in the registry by opening the registry editor and locating the following:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macrium\Reflect\Settings

Create a key with the following information:

    Name: DisableTrayNotifications
    Type: DWORD 32 Bit
    Value: 1

Just tested this and there is no more banner or chime.

There may be a workaround in the registry for anyone wanting to keep the banner but disable chime but i'm not aware of anything like that.

I'll try this. I do have Macrium... I like the banner, but not the sound.
