No sound through laptop speakers, hdmi and headphones work
I have a MSI GS70 Stealth Pro 6QE.
I typically have my laptop connected to a larger monitor with built in speakers via hdmi connection and the sound has always worked. I unplugged the hdmi cable and tried using the laptops built in speakers and my speakers don’t work. I reconnected my hdmi cable and played an audio file and the sound worked on my monitor then when I unplugged the hdmi cable the laptops speakers actually played audio for about 5 seconds then faded away instantly. I also tried plugging in headphones to my laptop and could hear the audio.
I have been told it seems like a motherboard issue but is there any way of verifying that or possibly fixing it? I looked up the prices for motherboards for my laptop and they are around $500+, I’d rather just get a new laptop than waste that much.
