Why is "Host Processes for Windows Services" in my Volume Mixer?

There is a new application in my Windows Volume Mixer called "Host Processes for Windows Services". Where did that come from?

I saw the explanation in the "What is this" sites, but why is it in my Windows Volume Mixer? It was never there before.

Hi, Steve. Could you post a pic of what you see? My Volume Mixer looks like this. Nothing like what you are saying. Thanks.

As Bro67 posted link, use Process explorer tree view to see whats linked to it, or try closing applications until it gets removed. it is probably sharing resources. Google products it looks like.

    Nailed it.
I took my time watching the mixer window as Windows started up this morning. The mysterious mixer control came up when I opened Chrome. That makes little sense because when I go to any site with audio, another mixer control is spawned. Also, muting the "Host process.." control in the mixer has no effect on the audio played through sites visited on chrome.

Thanks for helping me figure out yet another mystery we call Windows 10.
