I have cracklings and pops in asus crosshair viii hero whenever notifications pops, or scrolling with mouse while music playing, and everytime i reconnect headphone to 3.5mm port it sounds little bit different, sometimes more bass, but sometimes have distorted sound, like something is broken. I installed 6.0.8960 driver from Asus website, and with Nahimic service.
I'm on an evga board with a Realtek ALC1220 audio controller. Interested in the UAD drivers but a bit confused which set to go with.
Should I stick with the generics the latest which is (8844.1) WHQL. There's a few newer OEM drivers ex 9018.1 WHQL from HP. Is there any advantage to go with those or could they cause issues? Then there's the unofficial codec pack which I kinda hesitate on Realtek HD Audio Drivers 6.0.8978 WHQL Download. When is it okay to use those?
Are there actual improvements from the generics or just more compatibility fixes?
not much difference, pietcorus2.
however 8988 FF00 is WHQL for Win10 x64 only - does not pass WHQL for 64bit pre-Win10 OSes (aka non-WHQL for x64 Vista/Win7/Win8x)
Note to Brink: v6.0.8978.1 HDA FF00 X64 "generic" driver from MS Update (146.1Mb cab download) [posted 9/22/2020]
please update first post of this topic - 8978 HDA FF00 X64 is WHQL for Windows from Win7 to Win10
and note to Shonk: I'll skip the 9018 uad gigabyte version as things are working well on my Gigabyte board with the 9013 uad driver version - I'll wait for something either in the 9020s or 9030s & then update - and Dell recently has a 9018 UAD driver of their own, so HP is not the only one who has a 9018 uad driver version.
" not much difference "............just installed over previous 8978 , very good sound ....indeed, no difference compared to 8978 !
