    Hey @Cliff S.

    Thanks for the update bud.

I updated to 6.0.8923.1 UAD (released by hp) on Fri. and it doesn't sound bad at all.
I wouldn't know about 6.0.8945.1, but this one is quite refined and detailed (for my ears, at least), with excellent bass, not too heavy, not too light.

I take it back about the flat and muffled sound.
I needed to reboot again after Realtek audio console updated and also need to reset SS3 back to my favorite settings.

Now everything sounds as it should.

MUC has 8934 UAD. I forgot to check if there were any generics.
a few days late in responding to this but-
actually MS posted both 8931 and 8934 on MUC that day - both non-generic

edit - next time you mention a new UAD driver from MUC, download its cab file & view the contents in 7zip to check the INF files included to determine whether they are generic or not

I think there's also an 8924 UAD driver from HP ddelo - nearly forgot where

edit - oh here it is (it's a big 1Gb package)

8945 UAD is best suited for MSI & Gigabyte systems; not sure how well it will work for others but I'm sticking with 8945 on my Gigabyte board

8945.1 is pretty good Dimitri but is slightly heavy in the bass for me. For me the best of the recent releases is 8907.1, It's got a very nicely balanced sound and plenty of detail.
Note that ny comments are based on pal1000's releases.

I did on previous occasions. I posted that comment on my ipad so I couldn't verify whether it was generic or not.

    Thank you very much Andy.
You see, I'm a little lost with the UAD drivers of my new laptop, so I just use the updates provided for it by hp. It started with 8858, went to 8895 and last Fri. to 8923.
Thus I just take your word for it (you know that I greatly respect your opinion regarding sound quality). Once I figure out what the heck UAD driver I need, I'll be able to pick and choose between the new releases.

I've been quite busy with my new job assignment the past couple of months and I haven't been able to find the time to understand how the UAD drivers work, as I see a lot of extensions in Device Manager and it's quite confusing.
One of these days, I might need a UAD tutorial by you and @Cliff S.....

I think it's because of the several Intel Smart Sound Technology Bus driver versions (Intel HDASST) included that contributed to the 1gig size download

btw, 6.0.8935.1 UAD recently showed up on MUC - for modern systems only (any UAD driver version greater than 8904 on MUC will no longer include the generic hdxrt.inf & hdxrtsst.inf files). so like with 8931 & 8934, 8935 is pretty much non-generic
