Thanks. I realise now that for some reason the HD Audio Manager had not installed as part of the driver installation. I'm not sure why, i think I used the Motherboard Installation DVD and deselected alot of the MSI Bloatware, so maybe I accidentally deselected HD Audio Manager. Anyway, I have now installed the full 200+MB driver package and it has appeared in the tool tray after reboot - YAY!

So I think I'm all good to go and no need for me to install the latest UAD driver unless it offers something of value that the HDA driver does not (feedback so far is that there is no differences......)
No Need for UAD , it's not compulsory at this point. but there are better HDA drivers around eg 8648 is one I liked but currently am trying 8924.1. I am not sure what if any integrations ie Nahimic, you may have but ddelo made a Powershell Script in his Post about that. You can though use FF00 Generic HDA Drivers.

Determine the HDA Realtek driver needed for your Audio

Ah, many thanks - when you say there are better drivers, what is actually better about them? I'm a bit confused about this part. Thanks

Better sounding, more options, compatibility with sound and MM programs and games, things like that. I had a driver once that worked with everything but Skype.

Just better sounding to Me :) but for example 8648 is generally held in high regard as far as HDA drivers go here on the Forum.

    8904 , with last (!) HDXRT.inf and HDXRTSST.inf , very good also .
Its the last UAD I can use , in stead of HDA, coz all later UADs are missing these files............. !!

for me, 8924 HDA FF00 generic is fine for most of my other PCs
my custom built PC with the Gigabyte board is enjoying 8945 UAD (cuz the HWID for it is listed & supported by newer uad drivers greater than 8904 - I won't need to update them for several weeks

and my old HP computer gets to use newer HDA drivers like 8934 & 8940 cuz HP provided specific new HDA drivers which exclude the generic HDXRT.inf & HDXSST.inf files for HDA (ah HP users get all the fun, wahaha!)

I too am finding it OK , I used 8648 for a long time but haven't noticed much difference in 8924 FF00.

However I am not an Audiophile so I let Others like Doogie and Clive S guide my choices and Drivers I try .

PS. thanks for your Hard work too Epster4 here and elsewhere....

Besides the good version of the driver you are using, there are a number of very decisive factors that support audio quality such as .....
    - types of motherboard
    - brand headset or headphone,
    - types realtek audio chip( like ALC1220, ALC1150, ALC882, ALC883, ALC885, ALC886, ALC887, ALC888, ALC889, ALC892, ALC899, ALC861VD, ALC891, ALC900, ALC660, ALC662, ALC663, ALC665)
    - settings on realtek audio control panel ( equalizer, DTS, 7.1speaker, room correction, bits of sound(studio quality or DVD quality)

will give you Different sound details and colors.

MUC has 8934 UAD. I forgot to check if there were any generics.
