MoKiChu leaves MDL Forum! He do not release any new drivers there. This is because a user annoyed him. He's back now in ROG-Forum. In the Future he will only release ASUS driver - no more Gigabyte and MSI.

Hello everyone. I'm totally new to the forum and this thread caught my attention since I've recently built a new PC using the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Motherboard and Ryzen 5 3600.

The MSI motherboard uses the Realtek ALC1220 codec and is currently using HD Audio drivers from Microsoft V10.0.18362.356.

Is there a better driver I could be using to improve sound fidelity?

    TIA for your time

    Hello dear forum,
I am reading for years in this forum and finally I created an account, because there is a question that I could not find an answer yet in here.
BTW this is the best forum about (audio) drivers I have ever met. Keep up the good work.

My question is as follows: How to export the configs of Realtek Audio Console?

Everytime I update (or reinstall) the drivers my settings in Realtek Audio Console gets deleted (or set as "default"). It is really annoying to tweak every setting again and again after each installation. So is there any option to export and import my configs? If yes, how/where?
Maybe there is a config file, but I could not find the path (since it is not a "normal" programm installation).

Also what annoys me is, to having to click 1000 times with the mouse to adjust the roomdistance settings. Why it is not possible to give an input via keyboard?

Thanks in advance for any help. Have a nice day.

Did you try MoKiChU's new installation Process? He use .cmd Files to install the Software Components. May be the settings are retained here.

Edit: Your Settings may be stored here:
    C:\Users<YourName>\AppData\Local\Packages\RealtekSemiconductorCorp.RealtekAudioControl_dt26b99r8h8gj \Settings\settings.dat

    Thank you for your response.

Yes, I tried MoKiChU's new installation Process, but he assumes that you do a clean install (means removing all previously installed drivers etc.). Well, you do not have to do a clean install, but it is better to do so.
This solves not the main problem/wish.

The "settings.dat" seems not to be the correct file. I did some changes in Realtek Audio Console closed the window and looked at the file. Nothing changed. So I thought "maybe a restart is requiered", but even after restart the "setting.dat" file is unchanged. So this file seems not to be related to Realtek Audio Console (but maybe for some other settings).

Too bad that the Realtek Audio Console settings are not exportable/importable.
Maybe another user has another idea.
It would also be nice, if someone could help with the "having to click 1000 times with the mouse to adjust the roomdistance settings. Why it is only possilbe to adjust this settings via mouse and not possible to give an input via keyboard?" thing.

The Settings you are searching for are here:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\RealtekSemiconductorCorp.R ealtekAudioControl_dt26b99r8h8gj\HAM\AUI\App\V1\LU

In the Key "LU" there are 4 Q-Words containing data for speaker distance and so one. You can save your data by export the key "LU". For "having to click 1000 times" you better ask the developer of this app.

PS: MoKiChU's tip for clean install is only valid if you change the driver model and/or the installation method.

I am not sure if that path/keys are correct.
    - I did start Realtek Audio Console and changed only one parameter, closed the app and look at the keys. After that I redone that change to see if the Q-Words get back to there previous state, but it did not (new/different Q-Words were added).
    - I did start Realtek Audio Console and without changing anything closed it, but the Q-Words did still change.
So every start and close (doesn't matter if settings changed or not) changes the Q-Words in LU.

Well, okay, I will try to contact the developer of that app, but I think s/he won't care much about that (since this app is bad rated in store and not maintened a lot).
Also the GUI is not that important for me. If I would knew how to edit these settings via command line (or something else) I would preferably do it. Is there an option?

Yes, clean install is only recommend when switching models and I do it sometimes for fun (or let's say because of intereset and seeing/hearing the changes with updates). And also a fresh Windows install cause this problem. So there should be a way to export/import settings of Realtek Audio Console. Also I would like to take my settings from PC to other PCs or Laptops of mine.

Damn you are right! The registry keys do not represent speaker distance. I will look for more changes in registry.

    Stay tuned!

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the latest HD Audio Driver version would support the ALC1220?

Why have you not installed the UAD Driver from MSI ?
(it seems this MB can use HDA Drivers too)
