Yes but its not Generic driver..
8918 HDA FF06 is not 100% generic. while it does include the generic HDXRT.inf file, it does not include the other generic INF file - HDXSST.inf needed for SST (Intel Smart Sound Technology) based Realtek HD audio devices with HWIDs beginning with INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC. only standard (nonSST) Realtek HD audio hardware with HWIDs beginning with HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC is supported by 8918 HDA driver, which I'm already using on some of my PCs and I like it, along with 8924 FF00 HDA on my HP computer (sorry folks, 8924 HDA is HP/Compaq OEM specific).

    Hi everybody!
I am a complete noob with Realtek Audio Drivers.
I am trying to update my audio drivers, but I don't understand which version to choose.
I tried downloading the drivers from Realtek official site, but last version dates back to 2017 (R2.82).
The version from my motherboard vendor has another code (6.0.8688.1), but seems more recent (14/06/2019).
I don't understand why things are so complicated with these particular Realtek Audio drivers.
Why should I download them from 3rd party sites? Why there are different types of drivers (drivers supporting or not supporting Realtek Audio Console, etc.)?

Please, can anyone explain me all these things and tell me which version I have to download?

The log file has the correct codec listed...according to both Realtek specification and MSI DETAIL specification page of your board.

    Audio

    • Chipset integrated by Realtek® ALC898
    - Flexible 8-channel audio with jack sensing
    - Compliant with Azalia 1.0 Spec
Since you have a specific MSI customized driver, your best bet is to keep the one recommended by MSI (6.0.1.8010).
If you want you can try newer drivers at the expense of losing some MSI customized features.
If you decide to go that way, I would advice to create a full system image to an external drive, before starting, so you can rollback in case something goes wrong, or you're not satisfied with the newer driver.

    Hello everyone!
I need some help finding a Gigabyte version of the realtek hd audio driver for my motherboard, especially for windows 8.1, 64bit.
It used to have a Gigabyte - themed realtek hd audio manager too, (which was needed for the front audio ports to configure them when connected), but I cant find this driver anymore, it used to be on GitHub, but its now got removed.

My motherboard is if needed: Gigabyte B360M-DS3H.

Since this is an old laptop (i.e. older than 2018), it's most unlikely that there are UAD drivers for it.

You can always try pal1000 UAD drivers (Google it), but before messing with the drivers, I would advice to create a full system image to an external drive, so you can rollback in case something goes wrong, or you're not satisfied with the newer driver.
