The official website of Realtek High Definition Audio R2.82 is available for download 2017.
The manufacturer's website for the laptop ACER Aspire 5 available sound driver version is: 6.0.1.8451.
The Catalog Update Microsoft is the latest version of sound drivers such as 6.0.1.8555 Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) ALC255.

And various pages, for example, Station-Drivers, you can download the latest versions 6.0.1.8720.1 than Microsoft Update / Windows Update.

Where do these drivers come from in the Microsoft Update Catalog?
    How is it finally?

What is better "Microsoft High Definition Audio compliant device" or Realtek HDA?

    Re: What is better:

You have to decide that. Everyone has different tastes in terms of what they want the sound to come across like - some like subdued lower ranges (aka bass), some want subdued mid ranges, some want subdues high ranges, some want the exact opposite of one (or more of those) and even one person recently stated that they were more interested in bug fixes than audio quality.

You, as the user, have to decide which sounds the best for you.

    6.0.8761.1
    Sounds pretty balanced so far.
    Bass has punch and kick.
Not as much punch as I prefer, but I think it is more to what the original recording producer's intended to give though on the videos I test with.

Talking videos, like Gamers Nexus, sound more "we are in the same room".

For anyone still using the HD Audio driver, there's an updated version of 6.0.8757.1 (FF00 = Generic) with Win10 RS1 RS2 support:
    6.0.8757.1_FF00_PG473_Win10_RS1_RS2_RS3_RS4_RS5_19H1_Win7_WHQL.zip

Have no idea if there is any substantial difference in sound with respect to the previous version posted.

hi krisso1987. there is a v6.0.1.8555 HDA driver from Acer's web site, though it may not be listed for your model but should work on your Acer Aspire 5 machine.

no real changes with the previous or "original" 8757 FF00 HDA driver, asturias7.
only with the "designation" in the package name - I even tested this new 8757 HDA driver package on Win10 LTSB 2015 (based on v1507) and it works fine.

well folks, it has been about 2 full years since Realtek released the R2.82 (v6.0.1.8186) HDA drivers on their web site [exact date was 7/26/2017]

I must say John that for me the 8761 build sounds a lot better than 8762. 8762 is full of detail but at the expense of a coherent musical sound. I'm interested to hear what others have to say on these drivers.
