Lol - Luckily I have both of those downloaded, and can probably set aside some time this evening to compare.

All is well
I bought a house near Stone Mountain, GA, and had the move, including packing, arranging transportation, and then setting everything up. I'm still not fully unpacked lol - but I've got all the bedrooms almost fully furnished and unpacked, and most of the main floor rooms done - still looking to get an entertainment center to house the TV and associated electronics.
Plus, I also disregarded the Cat5e runs made by the builder's electrician, as he violated several cardinal rules of running data cables, and ran my own Cat6a from the unfinished basement to the main floor, so my AT&T LightSpeed Gigabit connection would actually work well via Google WiFi Mesh on both main and second floors.
I only got this desktop set up fully yesterday, as I had to repair my computer desk as well. And I still have 6 boxes here in the media room to unpack. Lol.
I didn't forget, it was just awkward trying to keep up with the forums on the Linux laptops with a single screen, not to mention much, much slower WiFi *AND* wired connections.
But I am back - and updating everything on my system (starting with the latest WinX IP build last night).
As today is the USA National Independence Day, I have time to play - and I have tomorrow off, as well, plus the weekend of course. So *lots* of time. Lol.
Interesting.
I haven't installed anything yet, so I suppose the last time I was playing around on here I had installed this - I'm currently on 6.0.8688.1
And I have downloaded 8648, 8688, 8699, 8734 and 8742.
That test would be huge, though. Lol. But I can try.
Any of those I should remove (as in general consensus is that one or more of those are definitely sub-par)?
First of all congrats on the new house. I wish you all the best and hope you have a great time and enjoy your stay there!!!
And don't get crazy with setting up everything quickly. Take your time and enjoy every minute of it.
As for the drivers, besides the well established (and tested) 8648, IMHO 8734 is worth testing exhaustively (you know, the JG way! ) and compared to 8648.
well YoTips - Realtek downgraded the MBAPO232.dll & MBAPO264.dll files from v6.0.1.8491 onward that allow using only Creative X-FI MB5, not Creative BlasterX Pro 720 (SBX 360/720 require version 1.2.65.x or 2.0.0.x of those MBAPO232.dll & MBAPO264.dll files). 8491 FF10 to present (8703 FF10) have v1.2.16.131 of those Creative MBAPO2 DLL files, which will not allow usage of Creative BlasterX Pro Gaming 720 and will not recognize your Realtek audio device; only X-FI MB5 & Sound Blaster Cinema 3 will recognize recent FF10 drivers because those apps can use v1.2.16.131 of those files. Latest FF10 HDA driver to allow usage of Creative BlasterX Pro Gaming 720 that had v2.0.0.3 of the Creative MBAPO2 DLL files is either 6.0.1.8480 or 6.0.1.8485 (though 8485 FF10 is not available anymore)
you need the desktop (non-UWP) version of Creative BlasterX Pro 720 (v2.1.4 from Gigabyte) for the FF10 HDA driver although Clevo has v2.1.5 of the same app on their web site. v2.0.0.17 is the Creative SBX720 UWP software component which requires a UAD driver.
Note to Brink: Microsoft posted v6.0.8703.1 HDA generic on the MS Update Catalog site (cab download size is 111.6Mb)
Happy July 4th in the USA
Realtek HD Audio Driver 6.0.8746.1 WHQL is now available for FF00, FF03, and FF06.
FF00 = Generic
FF03 = Nahimic
FF06 = MaxxAudio
