Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [2]

warning to Windows 10 v1903 users - if any of you are using Realtek audio on v1903 and have installed the
KB4515384 security update, you may encounter audio problems as noted on
this Windows Latest article.
That with games, YouTube, Twitch, and any other streaming has started about 3 months ago, at least on all browsers, it's not just because of KB4515384.
That one might have caused even more problems to appear, but the problem is not Realtek, it's Windows handling of Nahimic.
This is why I'm sticking with HDA until it gets fixed by those Microsoft dopes, that keep breaking sh!... ahhh stuff.

speaking of Nahimic, Cliff, the nahimic 3 enhancements seem to make no difference (whether enabled or disabled) when playing Youtube videos in either Firefox or Chrome [I was able to reproduce this on my Gigabyte board using Realtek UAD 8757.1 + Nahimic 3 integration] (noted that in the nahimic forums - see one of my comments there)
However, if I play the Youtube videos in other web browsers like Opera, Seamonkey, MS Edge and even Internet Explorer, Nahimic 3 does affect the sound. so it seems the youtube sound problem is (nahimic + firefox/chrome) specific
other than that, Nahimic 3 v1.3.2 uwp app and the integration files from the UAD Gigabyte drivers work great (maybe Nahimic uwp works better on Gigabyte & MSI systems rather than on Asus ROGs & Dell Alienwares but other people may differ)
I did install the KB4515384 update on my friend's custom built PC with an ASUS board using Realtek ALC887 with the 8773.1 HDA FF00 drivers (I'm not updating them 'til the 8800s) and found no serious problems - the start menu and search functions are working as expected [maybe the problems with KB4515384 happen to those using privacy tools like O&Oshutup10 or using 3rd party start menu apps like Start10, Startisback or Classic Shell/Open Shell]
btw, there are 8794.1 drivers available but they're UAD only. latest HDA version so far is 8791.1.

Microsoft provided their own explanation on why games sound quieter.
Quote:
Microsoft has received reports that audio in certain games is quieter or different than expected after installing this update. At the request of some of our audio partners, we implemented a compatibility change that enabled certain games to query support and render multi-channel audio. Due to customer feedback, we are reverting this change as some games and some devices are not rendering multi-channel audio as expected. This may result in games sounding different than customers are used to and may have missing channels.

IMO 8787.1 is still the best but I'm currently trying out 8795.1 and finding that a really good sounding driver.

Any news about an updated FF10 driver?

I don't see a taskbar icon for Realtek audio on my new HP laptop - I can only use the app HP Audio Control. Is there a way of restoring the Realtek taskbar icon?

Any news about an updated FF10 driver?
nope, not any. I believe FF10 is almost on the verge of extinction, Pesanur (unless OEMs like Asrock, Gigabyte & Clevo ask Realtek to make them). demands for new FF10 HDA drivers from manufacturers seem to be dwindling.

someone else was experiencing audio problems with the KB4515384 update as noted in this other forum.

yup, I'm using generic 8787.1 UAD on my Gigabyte board that has Realtek ALC892 audio and it sounds great.

From MoKiChU at ROG Forums(he's like the driver god there)
ROG SS3 users & ROG SS3-DTS users : I just got confirmation from A-Volute/Nahimic support (creator of SS3&SR3) that they have problems with browsers since some updates, which results in a loss of effects in some cases.
Their teams are currently working on this problem and a solution is expected by the end of the month or early October.
