To be honest, it didn't bother me at all, I was just wondering how could Realtek create a driver in Jan. 2017, for an OS build introduced in late 2018.
But I think you answered that. They didn't. Microsoft just retested the old 8036 and certified it for1809, which makes perfect sense to me now.

I'm in the same boat. I've been emailing with support and they want to do a teamviewer install with me to try and see what's going wrong. Unfortunately my time zone and days available isn't lining up with theirs at the moment. I'm not sure if it's Nahimic 3 giving me grief or windows, however, my troubles started after a nahimic update from the windows store a month or so ago.

8787 is great!
The breakdown drop at 2:26 is really clean sounding, and still powerful(I got a blood nose and think the subwoofer ripped my left lung pleura.

Definitely the best driver so far this year.
Punch and Kick is solid here even in the 32-36Hz range

, and the mids and highs crisp without sounding sloppy.

I even went and got the generic FF00 version from @alanfox2000 Github page for my laptop and Lenovo H530

Release Realtek High Definition Audio 6.0.8787.1 WHQL . alanfox2000/realtek-hda-release . GitHub

8787 sounds really good running from my Lenovo through my Blu-ray player.
