Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [2]
-
9159 worked fine on my Gigabyte board as well as on certain HP systems (HP has at least 4 driver packs based on 9159 such as
this one and
this one). didn't get a chance to test 9160 (I know MoKiChU made 9160 versions a few weeks ago but are no longer available and superseded by his newest 9175 drivers) but Dell has a 9160 driver package of their own
here which should work okay for those specific Dell machines.
btw, official 9175 UAD MSI driver (full package) from
MSI's web site (posted a few days ago).
I have a full 9175 uad gigabyte driver pack available
here from Mega - can be used to clean install or update previous driver version; works on both Gigabyte laptops & desktop PCs/motherboards using many Realtek HD audio devices (few exceptions like ALC40xx like ALC4080/ALC4082 which are USB based)
Where did you find that zip on MSI's site? Thanks for the info... just curious.
This is why if I ever post links --- I always post the website page, not merely the actual file.
Yeah, a direct link to the page versus to the downloadable .ZIP file would be immensely helpful. Last time I got a direct link from MSI it didn't actually work with my MEG X570 GODLIKE mobo - it was missing components left and right, and I had to manually remove everything and reinstall the stupid 9057 package available from the MEG X570 GODLIKE support pages. It's been a while now, but IIRC correctly Nahimic refused to install / work and ...maybe RealTek Console too? At any rate, it didn't work the way it was supposed to.
If I get some downtime this week I'll check the package and see if it installs everything correctly or not for my mobo.

Win10 Dev Build 21930.2025
Every one that follows me here, knows that I usually compare the newest Realtek drivers to HDMI passthrough on my Dolby/Dolby Atmos soundbar and headphones.
I usually do the testing by turning off all effects in Sonic Studio 3, to compare the basic driver-only sound.
What I haven't said was using SS3, and my preferred settings, usually made Realtek sound clearer, crisper, and the bass tighter, where using SS link and HDMI made the sound stage much wider, thanks to upmixing in SS3 and turning on Home theater in the Dolby Access app, but the bass was deeper but less punch & thump, highs and mids were great though.
Today I returned to the Windows Insider program(Dev Build 21930.2025 because eleven is a comin'), and got a hellofa suprise
Now running HDMI through SS3 and Dolby Access eq's just as good as Realtek, lost to crispness and punch and thump, the sound stage is really much wider.
Basically the tone quality is equal now. I really notice the difference between HDMI(more channels for the upmixed sound) and Realtek(through an optical toslink, which is usually only two channel) when I somewhere else in my apartment, it just fills with sound.

I still can't thank you for the report - so I say thanks here, Cliff. Very nice find.

No need to thank John.
I just wanted to share that Microsoft is also doing some good under the hood stuff.
This was more important to me, than rounded corners that I will never really notice
I never noticed the whining noise, but sound overall is better:
we fixed an issue that might cause a high-pitched noise or squeak in certain apps when you play 5.1 Dolby Digital audio using certain audio devices and Windows settings.
Actually from build 19042.1081 (20H2)

But you keep up with it - well worth the rep every chance I can give it.
