    I have that exact board. Depends on if you want the "Creative Sound Blaster™ Cinema 5" third party stuff or not (if so, I really don't know) or if you want UAD. I DO NOT want either, so for me it is HDA driver exactly the same as I said in post #2448. I also make sure I get them installed before allowing internet connection, then block driver installs by hardware id (***see registry info at bottom) so Windows doesn't force in the Creative nonsense from the store.

    HDA version 6.0.8940.1 if you want a newer version and don't need "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously".

    HDA version 6.0.1.8328 if you do need "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously" and don't mind running an older driver.

    Both sound excellent and are full featured, with "Enhancements" tab for EQ and loudness equalization with no third party bloat. I am running the 8940's at the moment because I am not using my headset in the front ports, but I keep a copy of 8328 just in case I want to.

    ***Registry info: Will block driver installs (Creative "nonsense") to the Realtek ALC892 (your hardware id is probably the same if ASRock B450 K4, modify if not). Just in case you don't know, you would copy/paste the text in "code" into a text file and name it accordingly "Realtek Lock.reg" and "Realtek UnLock.reg", or whatever makes sense to you. Then just double click the one you want like a driver block on/off toggle.

    Realtek Lock.reg
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceInstall\Restrictions]
    "DenyDeviceIDs"=dword:00000001
    "DenyDeviceIDsRetroactive"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceInstall\Restrictions\DenyDeviceIDs]
    "1"="HDAUDIO\\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0892&SUBSYS_18499893"

    Then to unblock if changing driver or whatever later:

    Realtek UnLock.reg
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceInstall\Restrictions]
    *note: if you used this technique to block other things like a video card driver (they get numbers, 1, 2, 3, etc.), this second reg file would unblock all of them, so if you wanted to unblock just the one, you have to use the registry editor and drill it down.

    MUC also has 11.0.6000.224.

    Update the 3 realtek software components and then run Microsoft Store to update Realtek Audio Console to 1.14.224.0

    If it's working right, you don't need to update driver.

    Your Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming motherboard came with 8703 UAD driver. Install that OEM UAD driver first and run Microsoft Store to download the Realtek Audio Console. Use the OEM installer.exe (usually it is called setup.exe).

    AFTER you got OEM UAD driver and Realtek Audio Console running, THEN go to Microsoft Update Catalog to download 6.0.8988.1 UAD driver and 11.0.6000.224 Realtek Software Components. Unzip both cab files and copy all contents into 2 newly created empty folders. Then go to device manager, update your driver (under sound, video and game controllers) and ALL 3 of the Realtek software components (under software components). Then run Microsoft Store to update the Realtek Audio Console.

    You will end up with 6.0.8988.1 driver and 1.14.224.0 Realtek Audio Console.

    UAD driver updates on MUC usually comes once every 2 weeks. You can update as often as you want [get familiar with the MUC search engine and experiment with various search terms --- realtek, media, year (2020), OS nickname (1903, vibranium)], but at a minimum you should update TWICE a year (BEFORE Microsoft ships the next semi-annual Windows 10 update).

    Hey guys,

    Currently have a Maximus Hero VIII motherboard and I am trying to install the latest Realtek drivers and have tried to download and install the 6.0.8963.1 CAB file, however, it says that I am currently running the most up-to-date version which is 6.0.1.8468. I'm not too sure on what to do here and would appreciate some guidance.

    Thank you.
