The Volume Up/Down Slider is Still Shown!
Now what do we do to eliminate that unneeded little overlay?
I am not sure what you are really saying here since, on first sight, it looks like you are saying that the volume slider appears when you change the volume but that is normal.
The solutions posted refer to removing the rest of the controls from the volume slider popup.

To disable it in Chrome, (and most Chrome variants), disable Media Session Service in about:flags"
In the current version of Edge, there is no such flag.
Use the Edge tutorial linked to above and, if there is any problem, check through the posts after the tutorial to see if anybody else has solved it.

    Best of luck,

    HideVolumeOSD 1.3

    Attachment 339553

(I've got a tutorial somewhere on how to put the entries in the right click context menu, if so desired)
Thanks; we may go ahead and live with the taskbar icon. The larger issue now is this:

Defender blocked us and we downloaded it anyway and after scanning the Ver.1.3 .exe using Virus Total, a warning was given saying, "3 security vendors flagged this file as malicious"
Not very promising prospect. Typically those results from VT are All clean. Now we are apprehensive.

Are you confidant that the utility will even work on the most recent version of windows 10.

    Please advise.
    Thanks again!

It's harmless and works fine on my W10 and W11!

It's probably flagged as it executes against high system files and, is probably not a signed utility!

Yeah, we tend to agree that it's harmless. For now we are just going to try only using the taskbar volume control and the media player's volume. We may get used to not even using the keyboard volume.

Imgur: The magic of the Internet

We need help with this now in the year 2022. Years ago I remember dealing with this and maybe it was a flag in chrome, IDK. we use Edge now. Are you certain this is not a Windows thing? We were just playing a video game and used our microsoft wireless keyboard's hotkey to adjust the volume and this giant thing pops up. Previously we had been putting up with a smaller, volume only OSD thing and now this again.
We did open chrome and indeed, there was a 'media key handlng' flag there and it was Disabled. Looking in the Edge flags, it is not there -under that name anyway.
We really don't want to have to resort to a third party utility like "HideVolumeOSD"
    Please help

The few times I've seen that issue it was due to the screen resolution setting being involved and mostly on larger monitors. I use a 21" connected to a 4-port KVM switch and set all 4 computers to 1440x900, works fine. It may also involve a multi-media keyboard and its volume keys but that's just a guess.

Yeah we haven't messed with the resolution on our 23" display.

We don't have that win 10 messenger app installed and we're getting the popup.....yet again....after getting rid of it at one time in the past....now it's back again in 2022?

Glad to hear you say this. I downloaded the utility and plan to install it the very next time that pop up pisses me off.
I clearly remember dealing with this in the past so now it's like a ghost that's come back to haunt me.

It Sucks So Badly That Many Of Us Are Forced Into Using Third Party Utilities In Order To Defeat The Unnecessary Or Unwanted Crap That Devs Seem Determined To Bombard Us With!!!

Nevertheless; after installing HideVolumeOSD, the large imposing "thing" is now gone!!! The creators of apps like that are the ones who deserve my praise. In fact, I'm going back to that website and see if I can find a PayPal Button!!!
