had to swap monitor to old DVI monitor but cant get any sound
My Monitor packed up yesterday so I dug out an old DVI monitor I had.
Obviously no sound on that but I seem to have only Nvidia High definition audio drivers which give me error that I have no display connected.
Fair enough that's true but my motherboard is a gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING-CF (AM4) which has
ALC1220 120DB(A) SNR HD AUDIO on board so I should be able to plug headphones in shouldn't I ?
I have tried uninstalling the NVidia drivers from device manager and scan for hardware changes and they get re-installed but it doesn't seem to find any other audio device.
I tried installing realtek drivers from Gigabyte but they seem to install ok but nothing changes!
on my Taskbar I'm getting a red X by the speaker icon and it's saying "No speakers or headphones are plugged in" but of course they are plugged in.
I'm not sure what to do now as its going to take weeks to get my monitor repaired even if I can.
Can't live without sound for that long.
would appreciate advice on what to do next.
Thanks
Mike
