No audio on some weather channel and you tube videos.

Totally silent. For example this one here, I hear no sound. It seems like this happens for all videos where they talk.
But consumer videos submitted by users have audio.

Is there a missing codec it needs?
A few youtube videos also no sound is heard, but most do have sound. It is NOT that the videos have no sound, another device watching these videos have sound just fine..

Installed windows 10 codec pack, did not help. Next I may record a video of what happens as proof I have no sound on some videos and sound on other videos. I think the problem is pretty bizarre..Same result with Edge or Chrome, no sound.

Are you positive that the videos have sound. Link number 2 is silent on my laptop. I didn't try number three.

It sounds like your default sound card is different to what you're actually using, to fix this, right click the audio icon in the bottom right corner of your screen and choose "sounds"



then choose playback devices:



and in this menu, play a video while it's open and if you can hear anything, then check the equaliser on that window to see what device is making the sound, then right click and set as default device (in my case, mine is my headset):



and see if that fixes the issue.

Hi, I just tried this with the youtube video of my last post where I hear no sound.
The playback is set to speakers. The sound bar with green bars is moving up and down but I hear no sound, on that video.
My sound is working on most videos.

The sound is working on the video of the truck bed mat. Did you check to see if the sound was muted on that page?

Look for a speaker icon on the video. The volume could be low or muted.
