Looks like the last BSOD I got was on the 4th of March 2019. On the 7th of March Microsoft released KB4492978 to Windows Insider's Preview Ring. So maybe it was Microsoft's Retpoline implementation introduced in the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...date-kb4482887 update that was causing my hardware to wig out.

have you tried updating with KB4489899 released on March 12 (newer than both KB4492978 and KB4482887)?

btw, 8652 HDA just came out recently

I've been using the latest from the Microsoft Catalog since the system re-stabilized. Just now I noticed they have Driver Only downloads as well as the full software suite release. I had originally installed just the drivers, but I'll see if the Realtek software will work (the software was broken/incompatible with my hardware in the v2.82 driver package from the Realtek website but the driver worked fine).

Oh, lol, it's a copy of the software package without any need for installing it if you've already got drivers installed. It works fine too (hooray!)

    Driver v6.0.1.8622: Microsoft Update Catalog
    Software v6.0.1.8619: Microsoft Update Catalog

Hmmm, the software is linked to in the original post of Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version - Windows 10 Forums but I'm not sure where I stumbled upon the Microsoft Catalog link for v6.0.1.8622 drivers. Maybe I looked through the last couple posts of that topic for the latest Microsoft Catalog driver download or I did my own search through the Catalog for the latest they had to offer.

although it has been more than three and a half months since I last posted here, you could try the 6.0.8703.1 Realtek HDA driver (size download is 111.6Mb) from the Microsoft Update Catalog, Nicholas.

I really don't know, Nicholas. maybe some form of "copy protection" perhaps

anyway Microsoft has removed 8703 HDA 111.6Mb HDA from the Catalog searches.
get this v6.0.8716.1 HDA 112.8Mb driver from MUC instead (hopefully MS will not remove this one from their Catalog search)
