How do I switch mail notification sounds on?

Hi, I have W10 installed on a PC and have the default mail app. How do I switch the mail notification sounds on? They were on before, but the notification must have switched itself off.

If you want to manage notifications by apps open Settings > System > Notifications & actions.

If you want to manage sound schemes open Control Panel > Sounds and Sounds tab.

    Settings > System > Notifications & actions.
    Under Notifications:
    Select what you require.

    Get Notifications from these apps:
Scroll down to Mail for group notifications > On/Off. and/or the individual Account(s) you have setup with the Mail App.
Click on each one and select
    Notifications > On.
Play a sound when a notification arrives > On.

Settings > Privacy > Notifications > Allow apps to access your notifications > On.

Settings > Privacy > Email > Allow apps to access your email > On, Choose which apps can access your email > Mail and Calendar On, and probably People ON.

    Hi all,

Mail sound is on, but greyed out. Indeed all the "Get notifications from these senders" are greyed out. AndreTen, I do not have any gear icon within the mail app.

PS sorry about the late response, just discovered an email alerting me to responses within my spam folder!

Hello CosmicHorizon, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Those "Get notifications from these senders" settings would be grayed out if you turned off Get notifications from apps and other senders. That would have the same effect as turning off all those settings.

You will need to turn on Get notifications from apps and other senders.

In addition, be sure to turn on notifications in the Mail app as well.

Got them all ungreyed now. Makes no difference though, still no mail sound. Unless I have to restart my PC?

Just to repeat that I never touched any of these settings and I live by myself. W10 has switched them off for me.

Also, to repeat, I do not have a gear icon in the mail app.

It can become hidden by the message list (if folder list is dragged to narrowest).

Click the menu icon at top left to reveal gear icon at bottom (or widen folder list).

Yes, found the gear icon in mail app! However, mail sounds are already checked and applied to all accounts.

Check system sounds level in Advanced sound seTtings (Settings / Sounds-- scroll down - Advanced sound settings)
