    I can't find any advanced sound settings. My W10 is different from the one's displayed on youtube etc.

    You're right. You don't have that settings. Check in your sound sheme, if any sounds are disabled (not sure if this is applicable to mail notification at all.

    One question: why don't you update your Windows system to the latest (or at least 1803) version?
