New computer sound goes in and out

Have a new PC, HP envy running Windows 10. Upon booting up all is fine and sound working. During the time I am working on the pc, my sound will go out and stop working ( not al the time ) and I have to re-boot the pc to get the sound back.
I have checked and updated the drivers, and the bios as well, this has not helped.
HP wants to the a system restore, but I am afraid of loosing all my settings and programs on my pc, is there anything else I can try to shore of a system restore?
    Thanks

    Hi Heshie75v

What is reliability history reporting? Click start and type Reliability History. If you are getting an error look at details and provide a screen print. If not an error is there a warning?

You could also run Windows Troubleshooter for Sound ... Start > Setting > Updates and Security > Troubleshoot. One of the troubleshooters is "Playing Audio"

You didn't say what version and build you are running. Right click start, click run, type Winver, enter.

When the sound cuts out have you noticed a pattern. Roughly one hour in, when you start program A or maybe when you close program B. What app are you running when the sound dies.

Attached is my screen shot of my report of reliability history and I did notice audio errors.
    I am running
    Version 1809
    Build 17763.253

Don't notice a pattern when the sound cuts out, seems to be random.
    Thanks for the help

Did you try the Trouble shooter.

You definitely have a lot of errors. On Feb 4th it says seventeen events. Please expand the columns at the bottom so people can see the events. Also expand the windows so people can see the seventeen events.

Since you are running 1809 you could try an inplace rep[air. This is a non destructive process although I always recommend you back up your data. This is windows and stuff happens. Did your device come with 1809 or did you force the update?
