Realtek hd "popping" on outputs everytime a sound is made

With my Logitech speakers, everytime I browse a web page and then hit a link, I hear a slight pop sound. This is because the Realtek HD sound controller is power saving the speaker outputs aggressively as soon as there is no output. Due to the low impedance of the Logitech speakers, this means when the amps reactivate, the slightest noise is heard, in this case as a little but annoying pop. When sound is coming out continuously everything is fine. This has been an issue with previous Realtek chipsets on other motherboards and there was either a power saving option in the Realtek control panel to disable it, or a registry hack. Previously documented registry hacks don't work.

Does anyone know how to stop the soundcard from power saving?

    install FF00

    mobo: crosshair v formula z
bios cool in quiet disable c1e disable c6 enable apm auto

I have three current and two former PC's that have Realtek and none do that. On the desktop I'm using 2.1 analog speakers (currently some high end Klipsch). On three laptops either with the built in speakers or connecting analog speakers or even connecting the analog output to my recording studio board, there are no pops.

Does it do it with analog headset connected, either to the front panel headphone jack or connecting the headphones to the GREEN speaker jack on the rear?

When the driver is installed, he perceives the rear speaker as a side speaker
so I need to connect the black cable to the gray input

There is an option to set what type speakers you have. e.g. 2.1 (Stereo), 5.1, etc. Do you have the correct type selected?

My recording studio desktop is using an ASUS ROG Maximum VII Hero motherboard and has Supreme FX and Sonic Studio.

I had the same problem. The only way I could stop this (stupid) behavior was to edit the registry. Look for the key "PowerMngt" and the key "Enabled". This should be 0. If it is 1 then you have the popping sound!

Here is the key in the registry: "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtek\Audio\RtkNGUI64\PowerMgnt".

Note! Every time you update the driver this value will default to 1. So annoying. Put this key to your favorites so you find it quickly the next time.
Caveat: I don't know if this will work on your sound card.

Just FYI, if you're running the UAD version of RealTek, none of these registry structures are present. I'm guessing the fix may depend on what kind of Realtek driver you're using.
    Just a thought.

I bought a new Dell laptop in March 2020 and have had this same problem since DAY ONE. Every time a sound played, it would POP and every time a sound stopped, it would POP. It's been annoying for 6 months and I finally decided to search for a solution.

This worked for me. I found this solution in the Dell Forums.

I modified the power management settings for the 'RealTek Audio' via Windows registry (regedit.exe). Its a good idea to record or backup the default values before making changes below.

    a) Navigate to the class path for Audio settings (this is the parent path)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}

    b) Locate the specific class registry key for 'RealTek Audio' > In my case it was this 0002 (you can verify this by the 'DriverDesc' value = Realtek Audio)

Path should now be = Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0002 (or whatever your class 00## is)

    c) Drill down into PowerSettings key and modify the following values:

    Current Path = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0002\PowerSettings

IdlePowerState = ff ff ff ff

PerformanceIdleTime = ff ff ff ff

    5) Reboot your PC and the issue should resolved.

Sorry folks, that solution did not last. The popping sound is back. The registry hack does not fix it this time. I don't know if Microsoft updated something or if Dell updated something but it sucks. This laptop is only 9 months old had Dell doesn't seem to want to work with me even though it is under warranty.
