Converting old tape cassettes to MP 3

Finally found time at last to settle down and convert all my 150 or so old Eighties tape cassettes to MP3 and bought a converter called Reshow off Amazon thinking it ought to be fairly straightforward, but got tripped up yet again by another Chinese manual which was the usual microscopic gibberish.

Never having done it before any help very much appreciated indeed thanks !...

    Hi again

Unfortunately a bit too techical for me but had earlier installed wave pad which apparently is free if used for non commercial home use only, but it turned out a bit too as technical as well.

You should be able to find the Reshow pdf manual online.

Incidentally, I'm in the middle of a preservation project myself, I just bought a Roxio adapter for $20.

I lost the manual and found it online as pdf.

As I've already bought the Reshow have you got the links to the adapter and manual ? And is the pdf manual understandable as against the original Chinese one.... ?

Hi got a call last night that a woman had skidded off the icy road down into a ditch just up the lane, she wasn't hurt but it took about 10 of us to get the car back up on the road before she was able to drive off.

Anyway finally managed to get a song onto a memory stick as an MP3 ok and it's registering on the bottom bar of Windows Media Player ok but there's no sound for some reason ??

Suggest you examine it with an audio editor and see if there's anything there.

Great thanks the jack wasn't fully in. Still new to all this but some tracks are crackly and distorted whilst others are crystal clear, is there a basic and straightforward editor anywhere that could resolve it....?

    Thanks

A good audio editor has preset filters you can apply, and filters you can manually adjust.
If never used, you will need to experiment - finally it's subjective.

I've never had to deal with crackle- and wouldn't know how. I suspect that would need something more specialised to try to avoid affecting the sound. I think one of the programs I mentioned might have an option for dealing with vinyl (which is subject to crackle).

The programs I suggested before could also apply filters.
