How do I stop windows 10 adjusting microphone volume automatically

I have connected my monitor to my PC's microphone port with a 3.5mm audio cable so that I can connect my Playstation 4 to the monitor and have the sound come through the PC. This has worked ok, but the problem I'm encountering is that the volume is automatically adjusting so that it is quiet when the game is quiet and loud when the game is loud.

I believe this is because Windows 10 automatically adjusts microphone volume so that it doesn't pick up background noise. Does anyone know if it's possible to stop it from doing this?

Hi Edwin, thanks for the reply. I've tried this setting off and on, no difference either way. I've played around with most of the settings in microphone properties, haven't found anything that turns this off.

Does your monitor have a built-in mic?

Nah, it's an Asus MG279Q, it's got speakers and a headphone port, which is where I've connected audio cable, but no mic.

    Hi,

Perhaps, this is a compatibility issue between monitor Line out (headphone) and PC Mic in.

A Line out should be connected to a Line in and NOT to a Mic in input, due to different sensitivities.

If so, what I suggest is a USB Audio Line in (Analog) adapter for your PC.

Thanks for the replies, this issue resolved itself when I replaced the default windows audio driver with the realtek audio driver.
