    Hello folks,

    Dell Latitude E7470

The latest recommended driver from Dell is 6.0.1.6125 (05/07/2018). It comes with Waves MaxxAudio and it is direful.
From their offical website, I currently have installed the last Realtek codec R2.82 (26/07/17) which is okay but won't do.

I went through the thread yesterday evening and it hurt my brain. Members have suicided themselves over this thread.
I want to try the FF00 6.0.1.8648 but can't find any live links/repository. Where to look or request?
Given the Dell driver package is kak, what should I try next? Try a bunch of random HDA versions and see what's what? How about some of the modded driver packs found elsewhere?

Any pointers will be very well recieved.
    Hi and welcome to TenForums!
I would suggest to avoid any modded drivers.
    Give these drivers a try:

I'm not sure if you can use Waves MaxxAudio with these ones though..but you can try!

I'm afraid NO HDA FF00 drivers will work with the Maxxaudio software as the Maxxaudio integration DLL files are missing, ddelo
Waves Maxxaudio app will fail to work without those integration files

spiv needs a specialized/customized FF06 HDA driver (not FF00) from Dell for the Latitude E7470 laptop

try version 6.0.1.6127 (driver date is 10/01/2018) A12 driver from Dell or the "generic" 6.0.1.6127 HDA driver cab download from Microsoft (which included the generic HDXRT.inf file + Maxxaudio software) - either 6127 HDA driver download should work on the E7470 laptop - I even tested this 6.0.1.6127 HDA driver from MS on my aunt's old Dell Inspiron 580 desktop PC a few months ago (even though the maxxaudio software would do nothing on it but installed thru the generic HDXRT.inf file, which is only included in the 6127 driver from MS but not included in the 6127 driver from Dell)

    you're welcome, SimRacerMike
it was either 6.0.8917.1 or 6.0.8959.1 (or both versions) that have those "multi-stream" options you want for your MSI board but were either removed or made inaccessible in later versions

    Hello :)

erpster, Waves MaxxAudio is precisely worthless and no more. For the hell of it, I tried the Dell version you linked and it is shockingly bad, whether MaxxAudio is on or disabled. I have now tried a bunch of recommened drivers off the Dell site and each has outdone the previous in how ungood they are. All came with Waves.
I thank you for the time you took to reply but no more Dell specials :)

ddelo, v.6.0.9205.1 is the best thus far. Hard to tell if it is markedly different from R2.82 but it did equalise the volume across my desktop, from the master volume to media players to online players such as YouTube.
I will try the others you linked to, which were all posted by erpster, and report back.

And what about FF00 v6.0.1.8648? Any chance a link for this will crop up since it is rather old? In this very thread it is praised for being excellent. Get me a working link for this version and I swear to plant a tree in your honour.

    Thank you kindly

This is a 6.0.1.8648 HDA version from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
It's the FF01 i.e. FF00 with Fortemedia (FMAPO) Integration version and contains the FMAPO integration files.
But it does contain the hdxrt.inf you need and it should do the job. Give it a try, if you wish.

    Thank you for this ddelo.
Having now tested it, I find its pros or cons imperceptible from the others. What I have found however, is that the generics Microsoft installed are probably the top of the pack. For whatever reason, I never even tried them, or more to the point, never even noticed them as I use Revo and Rapr to do a thorough uninstall offline then install a new driver bundle to test. Only yesterday I forgot to disconnect internet and when I went to device manager there it was.

Got me a question. This driver's Hardware ID is: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2809&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000 and in the Microsoft Update Catalogue lands me on this page: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...101%26REV_1000
Are these drivers compatible with my system and why are the file sizes so wee?
Moreover, where can I find the exact cab file for the driver Microsoft has installed? Although in the Local Group Policy Editor I have enabled Windows to not include driver updates, if this should be overrid, I want a backup to reinstall.

    Thank you kindly

File sizes of 10-20 MB are the new DCH (UAD) drivers. They are good (compatible) to newer computers, starting from early 2018, and they are the ones that have become the de facto standard for new PCs.

Larger file sizes >100MB are the traditional legacy HDA drivers for older computers. They include all driver required components in one file and that is the reason for the larger size.

You can find a brief explanation of the two driver types in Determine the DCH (UAD) Realtek driver needed for your Audio

Without sounding pessimistic, I would guess that most probably the DCH drivers are not compatible with your system. You can see for yourself, by checking the latest driver available for your system in the Manufacturer's support site.

Cheers for the link, now I understand.

What I don't understand is the driver I now have. On Dell's support page for my E7470's service tag, the latest driver is version 6.0.1.6125, A10 and has a release date of 05/07/2018. This driver and the older versions listed are indeed HDA.
The generic driver I spoke of which Microsoft has currently installed on my system is version 10.0.19041.264 and has a driver date of 09/05/2020.
Is this likely that latest release from the Dell support page but merely under the title of Microsoft High Defintion Audio?
Most importantly, how can I check this, where is the directory for this driver? All I can find in reference are device manager's driver files details which gives me six kb sized .sys and .dll files in C:System32. These can't be them.

    Thank you kindly

The Microsoft High Defintion Audio driver, is the default generic audio driver Windows installs either on clean install or whenever the user uninstalls the Realtek driver. It is created by Microsoft and has nothing to do with any Manufacturer. It gives just basic sound capabilities.
It is replaced by the Realtek driver almost immediately upon connection to the internet, by Windows Update (there are ways to avoid it, if someone wants to).
From the log file you posted the other day I saw that you have a Realtek driver installed.

Being a few days old, the log misrepresents what I have installed at the moment. I generated the log per the instructions on page one of this thread. Forget the log.

This is now, this is what I see...

Determine the HDA Realtek driver needed for your Audio-hd1.jpg Determine the HDA Realtek driver needed for your Audio-hd2.jpg Determine the HDA Realtek driver needed for your Audio-hd3.jpg

In what folder can I find more info on this driver, whether it be just a default generic or otherwise? Surely a directory for it has to be located somewhere on my system.

Thank you kindly for your patience on this matter

there are few other new generic HDA FF00 drivers available, such as 6.0.9225.1 from evga, 6.0.9235.1 from Biostar and newly released 6.0.9239.1 from ASRock.
the download link to the generic 6.0.9239.1 FF00 HDA driver from ASRock has changed (the existing one no longer works and produces 404 not found message)
here's the new link to the 6.0.9239.1 FF00 HDA driver from ASRock
