Hey Dimitri, can you, instead of printing the whole Hardware ID, from device Manager, just create an output for the DEV_XXXX whci is the actual Realtek CODEC chip model, as it might help others.

Thanking you again for the suggestion, your request has been implemented!

I agree, excellent work on that script.

However, this may sound silly, but now that I have the codec number.
How do I go about finding the right driver,
or at least one that's compatible with my hardware?
Sorry for being a dimwit about this.

At station drivers if it doesn't show your CODEC(ALCxxxx) then the driver shown cannot be installed.
In the example above, if one has, say, an ALC884, the driver will not install, because it is not shown,
as that is a special CODEC chip from a laptop OEM and can only be updated through the drivers page for the laptop.

I must be a hopeless case,
because I don't get what this means?

I still don't understand how this information helps me, find a driver at Station Drive, or anywhere else?

    Perhaps me not understanding this,
has something to do with my psychedelic teenage year experiences.

I think you could use either latest FF00 HDA driver or Gigabyte RTK 8586 UAD driver since I also own a Gigabyte board (model GA-78LMT-USB3 R2) but uses hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0892&SUBSYS_1458A182&REV_1000" - that board uses Realtek ALC892, hence "DEV_0892" in the hardware ID

Read the specs of your GA-Z170-HD3 board on the Gigabyte site (Realtek ALC887)

    Oh No!!!
Not another way of "figuring this out", that I don't understand.
    Use Speccy?
The motherboard I have installed is in My Computer specs.

I already edited by previous post, Geosammy.

Your board is using a Realtek ALC887 chip

you have a choice of either using an HDA driver or UAD driver.

just start with latest FF00 HDA driver (8644) and be done with it. the 8639 UAD Gigabyte drivers may not work for your board anyway.
