Computer Not Using and or Not recognizing Headset Microphone

Recently I got a gaming headset but upon plugging in the headset my microphone jack, I realized my computer was not picking up audio from the headset mic. I have looked through other forums but I still cannot find a solution to this problem. I have looked at the sound settings and saw that under the recording category, It shows a second microphone device that is only accessible by plugging in my headset. But when doing so I've noticed that when talking into my headset mic the recordings menu does not show any signs of sound. But if I tap my headset the sound meter goes up. This makes me think that my computer only picks up sounds around the headset and not the mic itself.

Here is an URL to my Microsoft support question there you can see a picture as well as some replies primarily by me.

Check settings, privacy, microphone, which apps can access.............
    Checkmark Win32WebViewHost. Maybe that helps.

This sounds like an "old" PC and not fully Win 10 compatible. You only have the generic, basic function High Definition Audio for the PC's sound card. Either you do not have the correct hardware driver or as noted not fully compatible and the HIgh Definition is all you will have.

Second, with the headset part sort of acting as a mic, it sounds like you have an incompatible headset plug. Most older PC's have a TRS headset jack, and a TRS mic jack or a mic that can be either. It sounds like the headset you have has a "TRRS" plug like is used in iPhones and some XBoxes. More info on exactly what PC you have and what headset is needed to really try and help you. Up to this point I'm just making some "educated guesses"

There are TRRS to 2 TRS plugs splitters. If the "TRRS" (Tip, Ring 1, Ring 2, Sleeve) plug is what you have the splitter will give you separate headset and mic plugs.

    Here is an example:

Actually when looking at the cord you provided I see that I have to get another cord so I can have my headset connect to the two jacks do you have any recommendations for cords? Also when looking at my laptop, I have two jacks one for a mic and the other for headphones.

Sorry of my lack of knowledge regarding this issue I just don't want to waste money and I've never done this before.

    What is now your problem?
    Cable and cable connection?
    Software or drivers?
