I did as you instructed but unfortunately I lost completely all sound having reset the Realtek drivers. Neither the speakers nor the headset are detected anywhere. Any other ideas?
PS: A bit later I ran troubleshooting just to see if Windows will find the problem, and here is what it got:
Basically, it confirms that there is an issue with the Realtek Audio driver but it does not give an option to solve it.
Settings are correct. Same as my ASUS motherboard with Realtek and Win 10 64 bit.
For testing disconnect the front panel audio connector to the motherboard. Should be the HD Audio connector (but could be the older AC97, but HD Audio should be used). Then see if the rear audio jacks are active. If there were a hardware problem with the front panel it could be disabling the rear speaker jack.
I disconnected the headset from the front panel (if I understood you correctly) and still the rear jack (where my speakers are plugged in) does not carry through any sound. In the Volume graph, however, when I increase / decrease the sound, it does indicate that there is supposed to be audio but it does not get across for some reason.Settings are correct. Alright, we have a success here! Let me explain how the magic happened for other people who might bang dear head against the wall in a situation like this. As mentioned above, I had both audio jacks totally blacked out / no sound for both my headset and speakers.
So, I decided to head back to the device manager and turn off the Realtek driver and then WITHOUT RESTARTING immediately turn on. Having done that, I restarted and then when I plugged in my headset into the front panel, Windows detected them and the sound was back. However, that was not the case for my speakers.
So, I decided to look around and mess with the settings of the Realtek HD Audio Manager for my speakers and eventually I managed to find a solution using the following settings:

What speaker system do you have? That shows a 7.1 system but if you don't have it, then it should be correctly set for what you have. I have a 2.1 system and mine is set to Stereo.

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC driver can fail to install through Windows Update or Device Manager, especially due to Windows 10 upgrade. The common error could be as follows:
“Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
IDT High definition Audio CODEC
A device attached to the system is not functioning.”
If you meet this problem while installing IDT High Definition Audio CODEC driver, just use the two solutions below,then the driver will be installed correctly.
Solution 1: Reinstall the Driver
Follow these steps:
1. In Device Manager, expand category “Sound, video and game controllers”.
2. Right-click on IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and click Update Driver Software… on the context menu.
3. Click on Browse my computer for driver software.
4. Click on Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.
5. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) and click Next button. An warning message might pop up, just click Yes button. Then the driver will be installed successfully.
This solution should fix the problem. If not, proceed to Solution 2.
This thread is not about IDT drivers. Its about Realtek and the generic, basic function, HIgh Definition Audio driver is also not the issue.
