Facebook messenger won't access camera or microphone

When I try to video chat with someone on Facebook, I get that message.
    Code:
An error occurred when tryin to get access to camera and/or microphone. Hardware access error. To make a call on Facebook, you need to turn on your camera and microphone on. It used to work fine. Now I have that error in all my browsers. And it's activated. Have verified privacy settings to allow both of them.

Update your system spec's with the proper model of your laptop. What web browser are you using, are you using any type of Ad-Block agents? Usually the no camera/no-mic is caused by firewall, adblock, disabled in bios, Device Manager or Service disabled.

Windows 10, Chrome, yes Ad-Block (but it's always been on). No fireawall. It was working fine, and then one day went to answer a call and it just wouldn't allow it.

Something changed in Chrome to block Camera and Microphone for the Site Settings for Facebook.

You could check in Chrome. Three dots upper right, settings, three bars upper left, advance, Privacy and security, content.

With content there are settings for Mic and camera

I have checked the settings and it shows allowing Facebook access to the mic and camera. I have trashed that multiple times and it will re-allow it but no access still.

Do you have skype installed? Not that you should use Skype but rather let's determine if other apps can use camera and mic.

Ok, I do have skype and checked it. it wasn't finding the camera, so I did some setting fixes and now it finds it. However, facebook still isn't finding the camera.

    Does Skype find MIC?

What kind of setting fixes, were they to windows?

if you click Start > Settings > System> Sound is your MIC listed as input device.

Sorry if I previously asked, what AV and or privacy apps are you using?

I fixed the settings in skype itself to get the video camera to work. The mic did work already. I am only using windows defender for AV, nothing else. And it's been on here the whole time. I've gone to windows settings and enabled everything for mic and video, that seemed to have also helped with Skype. Nothing has changed in Facebook.
