I don't know anything about sideloading realtek audio console outside of the microsoft store.

But 2 things come to mind:
    1) MSI has a branded realtek audio console, so that may be an issue.
    2) From your thread, you grabbed the wrong app version (302).

Unzip your MSI driver folder and you will find a realtek hardware support inf file. Or go to device manager and look at the realtek hardware support application software component. The version of the realtek hardware support application software component file matches the realtek audio console app version. So if you have a realtek hardware support 11.0.6000.291 inf file, you have to use 1.41.291.0 realtek audio console.

That's so far been the only easy part. Have to do this a lot when you can't get access to the store.

    Code:
    DISM.exe /Online /Add-ProvisionedAppxPackage /PackagePath:RealtekSemiconductorCorp.RealtekAudioControl_1.41.290.0_neutral_~_dt26b99r8h8gj.AppxBundle /DependencyPackagePath:Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00_14.0.32530.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.Appx /DependencyPackagePath:Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00_14.0.32530.0_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe.Appx /skiplicense

Of course they do, damn it.

Ah, that's a first. Usually the advice for everything is "Grab the latest". :)

Ok, I have v290 from the MSI site. They are a long way behind. I've downloaded the corresponding console will reinstall Windows and see what happens. Will let you know. Thanks

The reason the 2 numbers match is that in the "normal" world (i.e. realtek audio console downloaded from the microsoft store) --- you installed the OEM realtek audio driver with 11.0.6000.290 realtek hardware support application software component, then it "requests" the Microsoft Store to download the 290 version of app.

You will notice that realtek hardware support application inf installs NO files. It has the inf file and the security catalogue file (the cryptographic hash file). It's an empty place holder --- merely telling microsoft store which version of the realtek audio console to download.

That seems self defeating. So, the console has bugs and stability issues. Realtek updates the console to resolve those issues. Except MSI or realtek don't update the drivers on their websites (And even MUC shows 290 to be the latest), so you are forever stuck with a buggy console since its version must match the driver version.

It may well not even be an MSI Issue. If realtek has not updated the drivers past 290 released in February, then why are they updating the console if no one can use it?

This is exactly the scenario I find myself in. There have been many releases of the console since February. I don't know for certain that the problems I am having are resolved in any later version, but I don't even have the ability to try, since MSI have locked owners into whatever version they deem "worthwhile" on their website - assuming it's an MSI issue.

    MUC has 294.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...=11.0.6000.294

And windows update would push optional driver updates (including the software components) to client computers and that would trigger microsoft store to download app updates.

    Ah, ok, I understand.

One more question if I may.

I searched MUC for "Realtek USB Audio" and that returned 2353, which was about 750kb. It's as you said nothing more than a bunch of inf files. That's the driver version MSI provides.

The MSI site has the USB Audio package, which is 17.8mb and is called Realtek USB Audio.

The download you linked to is 27mb, is call realtek software component and contains a bunch of components that my MSI package does not contain (I guess that's Microsoft making generic packages for multiple motherboards?)

All different names and sizes and different contents.

I should be using the file you linked to, not the MSI Package, and not the 750kb file?

Microsoft can only push the latest version they have... in this case .294.

So if .294 is the latest software component, and the software and console must remain in sync, why is there a .302 console version if there is no way to update to it, if it's based on the .inf?

Well, I'll update windows with the package from MUC and see what happens.

The 11.0.6000.294 cab file also contains all the other realtek software components. Realtek ASIO component, universal service component.

I can tell you that you are chasing ghosts, whether or not you are going to have 290 or 294 are mostly irrevelant to your problems.

This is your OEM MSI audio driver, within the Hardware Support Application folder, there are no other files (the folder just have the inf file and the hash file).

But in the other folders, they actually contain the files that are going to be installed.

So you can see that the hardware support application simply installs an empty place holder.

Because there is a 11.0.6000.302 hardware support application component and a 1.44.302.0 app.

The console is crashing with a DCOM error. I am trying to get onto the latest console app to see if it resolves the crashing issue.
My hsa version shows .290 at present, not .302.
Ok, I appreciate all your help. thanks
