    What about settings here?

    EDIT:
    Make sure it is set to:

    16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)
    Disable Audio Enhancements
    Disable Exclusive Mode

    If already set then you're right to suspect a driver issue.

    Otherwise run LatencyMon and see what gives;

    @EdTittel,
    This thread is as clear as mud. What and where can I find the latest "official" UAD drivers?

    My Gigabyte board vendor lists them as 6.0.8854.1 dated 2019/12/10.

    Thanks
    try v6.0.8945.1 UAD from Gigabyte's web site, sygnus21 - this was released on 5/08/2020.
    even though 8945 UAD is listed for newer Gigabyte boards with new chipsets like Z490 & B550, 8945 should work on your Z390 board as it works on mine.

    Excellent idea. In fact I just looked at the Z490 Xtreme and it has the same audio system as mine

    Driver works like a champ. Thanks

    The 8955 MSI driver is from CREATOR 15 A10SGS laptop.

    Support For Creator 15 A10SGS | Laptops - The best gaming laptop provider | MSI Global

    Even the non-MSI end users can extract the 3 software components and update your realtek audio console app to 1.12.219.0

    @erpster4: the answer is "It depends on who made the motherboard/system in which the Realtek audio chip resides." As you yourself have observed in this thread, that usually means checking the maker's support page for your mobo or system and hoping for the best. Otherwise, you must rely on what other people know and find about your system (or related systems). Thus, for example, I was able to use the drivers for a newer chipset on my Asrock Z170 Extreme7+ from the B550M motherboard (v8940.1) through a "try-it-and-see-if-it works" approach. But if you take that approach, you'll want to make an image backup beforehand and have your restore techniques well-oiled, because there's a better than 0% chance that it won't work (or work properly).

    I used the "newer" driver from the Gigabyte Z490 Xtreme board on my Gigabyte Z390 Xtreme board and had no issues. BUT... I do agree (though different methods) about having some sort of restore plan. For "me" that was creating a Restore Point for my just in case plan.

    more accurately the 8955 UAD driver for CREATOR 15 A10SGS & similar laptops (like A10SF, A10SE, etc.) is the 8955 UAD Nahimic driver, sandyt.

    Note that I listed TWO 8955 UAD MSI drivers in my previous post. one is 8955 UAD RTK (w/out Nahimic) and a 8955 UAD Nahimic version.

    the 8955 UAD "RTK" MSI version I found listed for an MSI WS66 10TK workstation (also available for WS66 10TL/10TM models)

    edit - released this past weekend

    6.0.8947.1 UAD non-generic on MS Update
