Realtek Audio Console REQUIRES a Realtek HD (UAD) Driver!!

I'm told on these forums that when looking at MUC for a Realtek audio driver that the UAD version is the smaller of the two versions (around 11MB), HDA being the larger by a big margin. So I am careful to install the smaller supposedly UAD. Problems are...

1) On Device Manager it is labelled as "Realtek High Definition Audio", rather than "Realtek (R) Audio" which the UAD version apparently should be.

2) Realtek Audio Console (RAC) will not download from MStore. Fails every time with an error code.

So I go to the Mokichu site...

[DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (UAD | 2xx/3xx/4xx)

...and that driver installs, is correctly labelled and RAC installs no problem. So is the MUC driver truly UAD and if so why is it not labelled correctly and RAC does not install?

Hello, on my other motherboard and others, I would go to change from the speaker icon in the taskbar to the Speakers connected to Jack 3.5 on the back plate or to jack 3.5 on the front of the box.

Well, with a new board and new drivers it doesn't let me change anywhere from Windows where I want the audio to come out.

Well, if I go to the control panel and sound, only "Speakers" will appear and "Headphones" will not appear anywhere.

So of course I can't change them without having to connect and disconnect the helmets from the front panel.

Solution to this? Before I swore I would get out Speakers and Headphones so I could switch them.

I have Nahimic as the audio software control and the Realtek control panel and it does not go out there to switch either.

Tests:
I have uninstalled the Drivers that come on the MSI website (Realtek Universal HD Audio Drivers 6.0.8928.1) and I have let windows and search automatically. All this with the top window of Sound open and I have magically seen Speakers and Headphones appear. If you installed the MSI Drivers "Headphones" disappears. If I uninstall them, it will reappear and if I update the audio driver, look in the MSi drivers folder and it will disappear again.

The ones installed by windows are the Realtek Audio 10.0.18362.356 and with that the two appear ...

I have two separate or independent outputs - one for Speakers and the other for Headphones (aka. Realtek hd audio 2nd output)

run Realtek Audio Console on your MSI board and check Device advanced settings, - see if the Playback Device options are listed - in my screenshot, I have the 2nd option from the Playback Device section selected

Hi, im downloaded last drivers for MSI Realtek UAD and not possible select.

Realtek Console reconized Rear panel (speakers) and front panel (headphones) per not possible selectable by software. Only shows "Speakers" in "Control Panel --> Sound"

MSI Control panel not have advanced settings. Only Disable front panel popup dialog and enable jack detection.

This morning I tried iterating a Google search of support.lenovo.com and turned up only 4 results, one for an M73p ThinkCentre in Spanish. Converted that to a Lenovo support search in English (US), and turned up a package 6.0.8924.1 dated two days ago (24/4/20). The text file download shows it is for a vast amount of codecs over many years, so I made a restore point (and other backups of course) and gave it a go without checking the hardware ID. (couldn't read the unpacked files and F3 searches for parses of my id yielded nothing in the pack). A proper uninstall/install process happened (with a reboot in between), and hey presto - I am on 6.0.8924.1 and everything is working!

It still isn't the UAD version as it has the old style realtek Audio Manager in the system tray, but the original objective (to get to higher than the security fix level of 8857) is mission accomplished. I doubt if I'll spend much more time on seeking a UAD solution, although MS and Realtek should make it easy not hard as it would benefit them too. (less support queries, less server bandwidth taken etc.)

Finally another great learning point is when MS Update wants to overwrite your hours of hard work by reverting back a driver, there is a Show/Hide Cabinet you can run to block that - and I hadn't seen that since XP.

Despite writing that I wouldn't look for UAD I did for far more time than I should have burnt on it and I still turned up nothing that works.

Couple of things I noticed:
1/ Whilst the HDA file download that I used (from the Thinkcentre M73p for my U430p Ideapad) is c 198Mb, the unpacked file set from the download (that is saved in C:\drivers) is 767Mb, and the inf in driver store explore is 233Mb (hdxpcee4.inf)

2/ My machine is way faster than it used to be (the way it snaps from window to window, excel opening up etc.) and I don't know if this could be down to some of the deep cleaning (complete RTK removal procedures etc.) that I have done?

3/ I only installed the driver using device manager\'have disk' method without the realtek HDA gui, although windows decided to find this for me subsequently.

4/ If I clean install windows and don't have any Realtek drivers (and prevent them coming from windows update, using cab, GPO, whatever) is the windows generic driver UAD? (last week this was 10.0.18362.356)

5/ I did make one other change which may influence overall speed, and that was to turn off 'chat' in google mail web client

that's sad not sure what to say
maybe that's why I'm so hesitant to buy a new motherboard from MSI
so I went with Gigabyte instead since the Realtek UAD drivers provide the necessary options including Advanced settings

no Jagtronic - generic Windows HD audio driver (hdaudio.sys) has nothing to do with UAD or HDA standard at all. it's simply a "generic" HD audio driver for any HD audio device whether old or new
