Odd, I'm not finding that. Can you provide me the page you found it on?

I should continually check for updates on the Windows Catalog, you reckon?

Theoretically, Microsoft is supposed to push driver updates automatically to you. But some of the time, the automatic updates don't work as expected.

You should at least manually update via this method TWICE a year --- just BEOFRE Microsoft updates windows 10 (i.e. Microsoft updating windows 10 from 1903 to 1909 later this month).

So 6 months from now, do a manual update via this method just before Microsoft pushes out 20H1 windows 10 update.

yes but not too often, Ownsin. Microsoft is sorta behind schedule with Realtek audio driver updates when listing them on MS update catalog (mainly because they're getting ready to release 1909/19H2 to the general public soon)

and note that most of the recent updated realtek audio drivers on MS update catalog are the compact UAD driver versions. new HDA (nonUAD) driver versions are hardly mentioned there (the latest HDA version on the catalog is 8791 - the 153mb cab version, while the latest UAD driver version there is 8809)

What's the difference between the compact version that I installed and new the HDA?

UAD drivers are meant for use on modern PCs and run on recent 64bit Win10 versions only (UAD drivers don't support nor work on older versions of Windows as they require at least the Win10 v1703 Creators update release) UAD drivers appear in x64 (64bit) format only - no 32bit/x86 editions of uad drivers will be produced (and it would not make any sense to do so)

the traditional/legacy HDA or non-UAD drivers support a wide variety of Realtek HD audio devices from old PCs to new ones - HDA drivers install & work on many different Windows versions as early as Windows Vista and up to the most recent Windows 10 version. HDA drivers come in both 32bit and 64bit editions.
