You did rip out the HDA versions right?
Try running Windows store and see if you get an update to the UWP Realtek app.
If that doesn't help:
The only other one for HP is this one: Realtek HD Audio (UAD) Drivers Version R2.8x (8509) WHQL (HP)
Rip this last one out too then try installing this one
Same thing with this one Realtek HD Audio (UAD) Drivers Version R2.8x (8509) WHQL (HP).
No driver installed, No Software Components, just a non-working "HP Audio Control" app, which does not get updated from the Store.
I also tried the Generic Realtek HD Audio (UAD) Drivers Version R2.8x (8501) WHQL, but this time used the installer.
Again everything went fine, Driver and Software Components were installed and Realtek Audio Console was automatically downloaded from the Store.... but again headphones and speakers play at the same time.
I think we tested every possible combination. So HDA is the only option for this PC.

I did play with it toggling on and off, but didn't make any difference!
Oh I'm sorry ….I didn't have this one! Just the one below for the Recording device. Nothing for the Playback device!
It could be that HP doesn't offer all the same UWP stuff as others, for example I know they probably don't have Sonic Suite,(like Sonic studio and sonic radar) as those are from ASUS, and god is Sonic Studio really good.

What they have at least in the older ones like mine (Mar-2016), is Conexant, which is not anything special. That's it!
I'm afraid that despite all our efforts, UAD is not possible in this laptop.
So I'll restore the image and update the HDA ones... at least for now.
I'll bug you again when I try it again, with a newer version!

I have a newer system and had problems getting UAD going, and updating to the newest ones sounded flat, so I went back to the lsat good ones.
By the way, once you do get the UAD installed, updating is normal, and going back ifneeded. One just needs to use the installer to go back, as Microsoft & Windows 10 actually do NOT support using device manager to go back.

On all supported versions of Microsoft Windows, uninstalling a driver through device manager may not remove associated files or applications with that driver
Symptoms:
Consider the following scenario:
You have a 3rd party driver installed on a system via the 3rd party installation
The driver installer also installs a 3rd party application or applications
You try to uninstall the driver through the Device Manager
In this scenario, the driver files, as well as the 3rd party application are not removed. Each time you reboot the machine, or any other action that forces a re-enumeration of plug and play devices, it will try to install the drivers.
Cause:
Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is by design.
Resolution:
If you have installed a 3rd party driver via a 3rd party installation , it is recommended that Add and Remove programs is used to uninstall 3rd party driver packages
