I arrived here because the Realtek Audio Control app had been disabled by the latest Windows update. I downloaded the UAD driver from majorgeeks.com (referred to in the OP) and followed the associated instructions (in the readme.md file). I finished up with a Realtek audio driver with a version number of 6.0.8924.1 (driver date 26/03/2020).
When I try to reinstall the Realtek Audio Control app I get an error - Code: 0x80070003.

I used the setup.cmd file to do the install, rather than following the instructions from the page at majorgeeks (stopping mid-process to stop the Windows Audio service). Should I have followed the manual file copying instructions on the majorgeeks site?If so, where is the "destination codec folder" that it refers to?
    I have a B450 Aorus Elite motherboard.

I have read this entire article with great interest as I tried to update this driver without success some time ago. That attempt caused some issues and I had to restore my backup image to resolve, I didn't have sound.

My system specs are up to date and I would like to know is these drivers are actually compatible with my system. If someone has a few moments to take a look and advise me I would greatly appreciate it before I try again.

I should have added that this system has "Realtek Audio Universal Service" installed and running which is what prompted my question.

For some reason I couldn't edit my original post.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned these but a guy named Alan Finotty makes excellent modded Realtek UAD drivers that work on pretty much any board. They are digitally signed so you don't have to do anything special to get them installed and open source. And the installer offers you the option to install pretty much any of the software based audio enhancement programs you can think of. Creative Sound Blaster Connect 720, Asus Sonic Studio III etc etc, and like the driver they work on pretty much any PC. For example I have ASUS ROG Sonic Studio III installed from his latest release on my MSI motherboard and it works perfectly. You pick the ones you want during install, or none at all if you just want the driver and Realtek Audio Console.

    Releases . AlanFinotty/AAFDCHDriverMod . GitHub

Worth a shot if you are interested in any of the usually vendor/motherboard exclusive programs that are offered in his driver, or have a PC whose OEM hasn't released a UAD driver. Worst case if it dose not work it will uninstall everything you picked during install when you remove it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I will look in to the modded Realtek UAD drivers you have suggested. Of course I'll do a backup just in case it all fails. But, as you say it restores the drivers it removes.

At my first opportunity I will give this a try, I'm recovering from a back injury so it may a while.

    Thanks again

please note that Alan Finotty's UAD/DCH modded drivers are "digitally signed" by a 3rd party and not by Microsoft - issue #107.

also, almost any software based audio enhancement is included except for waves maxxaudio, which that one is only available to certain select dell & fujitsu brand machines

    Update:
I was successful with the modded UAD drivers. However, the sound was not satisfactory, better but not good enough.

I now just use my computer as a flat source and run it through my pretty extensive passive sound system. Don't know why I didn't think of this in the first place. Old age I guess. I am content with my music now.

Thanks to everybody that offered help and suggestions.
