@erpster4: glad to read you clearly understand this is a mixed bag, and that you must target the specific Realtek implementation for the to-be-update-system's motherboard. There are hundreds if not thousands of potential variations. That's also what makes @ddelo's thread Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [2] so important and valuable.

Thanks a lot for the recognition Ed. It's great to hear it from such knowledgeable and well respected users, like yourself.

And a small correction... You probably meant Determine the HDA Realtek driver needed for your Audio

@ddelo: thanks for the correction. My cut'n'paste didn't quite work out properly. Useful script that, though.

Hey, guys and greetings from Russia, land of bears and vodka!)))

I have a problem. After installing latest pal1000's release UAD 6.0.8960.1, I had 6 devices in RAC. I.e. 3 real (digital input, digital output and main analog audio) and 3 nonexistent (digital output and input, Realtek analog audio).

Question - is this normal behavior or I should do anything else to delete those 3 invalid devices?

I have ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0 mobo and Realtek ALC892 on it.

Big thx in advance for helping me in my headache...

    Hi,

Using generic modded (not legit) versions by pal1000 is not a good idea.

You need Realtek HD Audio Drivers (HDA - ASUS ROG/PRIME/TUF DTS&RTK) from my ROG HDA drivers thread.

Follow scrupulously your INSTALL process with cleanup step, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow the UPDATE process.

Note (in order to choose correctly the install/update process to use) : You have a ASUS RTK motherboard.
Big thx! I try your drivers and cleanup-install process.

If anything goes wrong, I reply in your thread.

    Thx!

ugh so I found out my laptop is using the latest drivers from the website MS update catalog , and that my manufacture ones don't even support , the new windows 10 vr 2004, and I seems to be locked out of this setting in the picture I put up. thinking its a limitation of the , windows driver it has installed, and HP thinks as well that it is. but they don't have a driver for this version of windows 10 yet. anyone else think that is the reason why I can't change this setting.

This may not be necessary with newer models but my motherboard Asus P9X79 LE was launched at the cusp of windows 8.1 and W10 but has not had audio (or other) driver support from Asus since 2014. You can find updated driver from the manufacturer sites but I have not had success with the Realtek bundles. It may be functional but I am using SPDIF optical out to a receiver and playing 5.1 DTS with a custom driver bundle that is signed. It may be the last house on the street for some people but it works flawlessly with the recent update and has all the functionality of newer HDA managers that Asus is not offering. I play music with Foobar and streaming and both are excellent. The sound quality is amazing so if anyone else has a ALC892 that sounds OK but not excellent it may be worth a try.

Realtek Modded Audio Driver for Windows 7, 8.1, 10 (Introducing DCH Version) | TechPowerUp Forums

Drivers are linked here hope the cross forum plug is OK. That last MS update rollout took out my neighbors nic card on a brand new Dell. I am not crazy about the way these get rammed down the pipe at basic users. He was on phone with dell for hours and their solution (not joking) was to mail him (yes snail mail) a usb thumb drive with two year old Killer driver.

That's because HP's customer service/tech support is lazy. I once called them on a monitor issue and the reply from the "tech support" person when they found my GPU was AMD was "we don't support AMD cards". What??? That's like Chevy saying they don't support Goodyear tires. Needless to say I no longer buy HP products. That was about 10 years ago.

Anyway HP isn't the only company to shove unsuspecting customers off the phone by falsely placing blame elsewhere. It happens more than you think. This is where it helps to know your stuff and be forceful if necessary.

@lightzoo: FWIW, I've had good luck with TechPowerUp downloads over the years. I don't have any ASUS mobos at present so I can't speak to your specific rig, but I've had good luck using their drivers with Asrock, MSI and Gigabyte mobos. Most of the big makers support their boards for about 24 months and then they fall into the void...
