    @EdTittel

    what I said in my previous post validates what sandyt was saying in going to the ASRock support directly rather than using the Station Drivers site as a "stopgap" (or stop-gap) since ASRock made recent changes to their driver download servers

    @erpster4: received & understood. You and @sandyt do it your way, please, and I'll do it mine. I'm simply trying to communicate that I personally and professionally find it easier to interact with and find stuff at Station Drivers. I intend to keep doing that. What you, and other forum members/readers decide to do is entirely up to you. Sounds like you've found a workable strategy, so it will hopefully keep working. Thanks for sharing your perspective. I hope you can understand and tolerate mine.
    Best wishes,

    If you are unwilling to change your tutorial, I would request that Brink remove this thread from its sticky status.

    It is not professional to ignore time tested safety advice of not advocating that people should avoid downloading from unknown third party sites. It is professionally irresponsible to say that it is more convenient for me personally to do it my way so I am forcing everybody that reads this sticky thread to follow my unsafe practices.

    anyone using 6.0.8904.1 or thereabouts (uad) on an asus board? My realtek audio console seems to not have the amplify setting it so desperately needs. Now i can crank my headphones to max and its not even that loud >.<

    wondering if it has to do with some of the hooplah thats going on surrounding these drivers atm, or the setting was pulled, or something is mucked up on my end.

    @sandyt: it is not a tutorial. It is only a sticky thread. The tutorials are in the tutorials section. But, just to resolve this issue -- which I truly and honestly did not understand until your post #293 made your thinking crystal clear -- I will post information about turning first and foremost to the motherboard or system maker's website as the best official source for driver downloads. I have been using Driver Station for over a decade now, and while I don't think of it as an "unknown third party site" I do understand your POV. Sorry for the confusion.

    @sandyt and @erpster4: I have updated the first item in this thread to communicate that readers should turn to their motherboard or system maker's websites first and foremost for official drivers. I have mentioned only MajorGeeks as a US source for alternate drivers in the body of the that post, and Station Drivers only in passing in a final PostScript at the end of that item. Now that I understand the basis for your heartburn, I changed the materials to reflect it. Hope it's now OK. If not, please contact @Brink to ask him to unsticky this thread. That's not my call.

    why is your text light gray and a little hard to read? might be a problem on your end with 8904.
    check with MoKiCHu in the MDL forums - I think he released a bunch of 8918 UAD Asus driver packs a few days ago.

    Note to EdTittel - on the other hand, Station Drivers did recently mention a Realtek UAD 8890 Gigabyte driver that is not available from the Gigabyte web site that I can use on my Gigabyte board - 8890 uad gigabyte even includes updated Nahimic3 uwp integration & an updated extension INF. but the 8890 UAD ASRock driver link on Station Drivers is still not yet fixed though.

    @erpster4: I'm running an 8890 from Station Drivers on my Asrock Extreme7+ right now without any apparent issues or difficulty. Please check out -- and comment upon -- my recent Win10.Guru blog post: Politics Behind Windows 10 Driver Update Sources – Win10.Guru. Thanks!

    Thanks again for your work here Ed. Unfortunately I could not make any of the various packages or procedures install the drivers correctly for my mobo. I am definitely one of the fringe users whose hardware works but is unsupported my the maker Asus. In fact it kind of irks me that Asus couldn't bother to keep up some of its now-aged drivers, firmware and native app support for the P9X79 mobo. Asus markets itself as a company whose build and component quality are top notch so sunseting its support after a couple years is ridiculous. I mean the X79 platform launched right during Windows 8 and its shipped with AISuite 2. Both the OS and the integrated software used to tune and maintain were phased out. There was a BIOS update in 2014 but since then if it stopped working you are SOL. Which brings me to Realtek. I have a Sony receiver and 5.1 speakers. Very basic. When I hooked up the rca output my movies and music were functional, but only because it was running the old Microsoft drivers. I did some digging and found some enthusiasts at TechPowerup who are making their own tools to adapt drivers. Its not for the faint of heart but it works! Now I have the full DTS interactive SPDIF output to my receiver and when I heard the difference I almost cried. Here is a perfectly good piece of hardware that really should have some basic driver update integrated for 10. My suspicion is this is planned obsolescence. They would prefer people buying on a shorter cycle than spend money to make old stuff last longer. Personally I can't afford a new mobo and do not need one. This PC isn't running any new games at HD settings but it plays what I like. I dont know when I am going back to work but being quarantined with a really good audio theater setup is something I am thankful for everyday. I have been a loyal asus buyer for a long time. But if they wont fix stuff its nice to see independent sources stepping up. This gentleman is AlanFinote and his package is exceptional.

    You can grab it here if you like: Releases . AlanFinotty1995/AAFRealtekMod . GitHub

    I just used the most basic options but it enables DTS Interactive. The quality of sound I have now is better than I could have imagined.

    Sorry if this is old news @lightzoo, I have an old ASUS X58 running the current Realtek FF00 generic driver with 5.1 DTS.
