OK that resolved the speaker issue.

Would still like to know though why it is I can not get the AMD part working again as loved the set up on those as headphones I could have at 12% and then the speakers I could set at 100% as I could then scroll wheel the volume in VLC but not the speakers and headphones the same level either all the way up or both set at 12.

But at least both are working again!!!

Windows just needs to stop messing with some things it wasn't broken until their update GRRRRR

If it ain't broken don't mess with it and break it!!!

You can always uninstall the update, but there is no guarantee that you will get the old sound system back. If you want to try looking for another driver, click "Update driver", "Browse my computer for driver software", then instead of clicking the "Browse" button, select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" and see if an Intel driver shows up. If not, take another look at the HP site and see if there is an Intel sound driver.

yeah at this point though probably just best to get use to the new set up (not so new as same as my old laptop) rather then risk losing it all again!!
