Missing Intel Display Audio after 1809 upgrade

    Windows 10 home 1809 17763.55, Samsung Notebook 9 - 7th gen Intel i7.

I have installed 25.20.100.6326 and same thing. Windows update immediately installs an older driver from 2016, then Samsung installs 23.20.16.5044 04/2018.

Under Device Installation Settings I have told it not to install drivers, doesn't seem to matter.

since the 256gb SSD is full I deleted the 1803 install.

I have an Image of 1803 to go back to if needed.

No audio when using HDMI at this point. Other than that, working well.

    thanks for any ideas.

Maybe a registry change might be better enforced. Option 4 this tutorial

Enable or Disable Driver Updates in Windows Update in Windows 10

Then find the Samsung updater and disable it. Not sure where to look but would start with Startup tab in Task Manager.

    Then I would try again.

I had the same message upon upgrading to 1809 - that my Intel audio was not compatible & would be disabled, however I have realtek audio installed so it didn’t affect my audio.
I immediately downloaded the latest Intel graphics driver which includes the audio driver; I used the Intel driver updater - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us...rt/detect.html hopefully this will work for you.
I checked after updating & Intel audio was still listed under device manager & didn’t look disabled.

Glad that worked for you. My Intel Display Audio will not come back for me.

I am traveling, when I return will probably do a fresh install. or maybe and In-Place install.

It appears that the error message is stating Intel for some people but it is actually their Realtek audio drivers which require updating/reinstalling. Check under device manager, uninstall their drivers & then choose to scan for hardware changes this should reinstall them.

I have probably very similar, maybe exactly same problem. Intel HD stopped work after last W10 updates.

In computer is Intel i7-7500U (Intel HD Graphics 620), installed is W10 Pro 10.0.17134, Intel driver 25.20.100.6326

Before that, there was older version of this Intel driver, i tried remove device and detect it again, update driver trough Device Manager, update driver by "Intel Driver & Support" and tried some Intel utility. It updated driver for Bluetooth and WiFi, but not for audio and it still don't work after all that attempts.

There are no error messages in logfiles.

And that's all. Driver seems to be newest as possible but W10 still says "Cannot found any sound device", analog audio output is silent, HDMI audio doesn't work either. HD audio in device manager is detected, but Windows cannot use Intel driver for it and i don't know why.

Might I suggest you remove all audio device drivers and remove their software. Then rescan for hardware.

I used the registry fix in Step 4 to disable Windows driver updates and after installing 24.20.100.6344 Windows still downloads old 2016 driver. I guess I would need to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro to fix this?

I need to install larger SSD anyway and will do a fresh install to hopefully fix the Intel Display Audio.

Try using the "Show/Hide" tool to block the unwanted update.
