Audio of word pronunciation doesn't work in WIN 10 1809

I have been using Merriam Webster dictionary software with audio pronunciation in all of the previous Windows Oss without any trouble. After installing the latest WIN 10 1809 version on a clean formatted disk, the audio of this MW dictionary pronunciation doesn't work anymore.

Then I checked the online Oxford and Merriam Webster dictionaries to hear the pronunciation, but no audio from there as well.

I am using Firefox 62.0.3 version.

However, there are no problem playing Winamp music player, VLC video or online Youtube videos or any TV live streaming. All of them have normal audio. So, I am assuming that there is no problem with Audio Device. I don’t have any sound card, but using the built-in motherboard audio.

Please help me to resolve this audio problem with word pronunciation.

Hi Priapus. Welcome to TenForums @Priapus

    Start Firefox

Click Start > Settings > System > Sounds > scroll to bottom of right hand side, Other Sound Options

See what output is being (speakers etc) used and levels for Firefox

This is the output I have now. Thank you for helping me.
I have been trying to fix the audio of the dictionary since I installed WIN 10 1809 two days ago. I have no clue how to fix it.

I haven't tried it since it is not exclusive to the browser. I don't use Chrome or Edge.

The problem is not just the online dictionary, but the Merriam Webster Dictionary software that I installed in my PC. That dictionary has audio pronunciations that doesn't work at all. So, I am assuming something to do with the Windows System.

    What else doesn't have sound?

So you access this through Firefox, please try Edge.

You listed quite a few things that did have sound and stated So, I am assuming that there is no problem with Audio Device

Only audio problem that I am experiencing is with Word pronunciation in a stand alone dictionary as well as on-line dictionaries.

I just tried with Edge now that also has no audio of word pronunciation in on-line dictionaries.

I can play any Music player, Video player, Youtube videos, Live TV streaming, Skype calls without any problem. All of them have the normal sound.

No Java script installed. Firefox doesn't support Java script. Moreover, I have been using this dictionary software without any problem until I installed the new WIN 10 1809 version on 10/2. The audio has been working in WIN 10 1803 version until 10/2 morning and there was no Java script in my PC at that time either. However, I had Flash and now I installed the Flash to test it. No audio from the dictionary software or from the on-line dictionary.

Those who have installed WIN 10 1809 version, please test any on-line dictionary such as Oxford or Merriam Webster to see if you can hear the audio of word pronunciation.

    Please post it.

I have 1809 on my laptop. I browsed to the dictionary web site, found a word. theater, and click on the little pronunciation icon and it said theater. I don't have a standalone dictionary. I also don't have the full java installed.

I would clear your browsing data in FF. If you point me to your standalone dictionary (and if it's a free app) I would be happy to install and test.
