How does one obtain a DTS or DD license?

To be honest I can't make my mind up on this version. I keep swinging between good and just OK, I'd say it's best to give them a go and see what you think. As for now I'm keeping them installed :)
    UPDATE
Listened to these for a few hours now. The bass is good and the detail is there but they sound slightly rough around the edges.
    Overall, Good Drivers :)
Coming from 8279, I think 8292 are actually better. At least vocals seem especially more distinct than before to me.

I think the bass is better on build 8292, it seems to go deeper but still remains tight.
However I'm still not totally convinced by the top end, to my ears it sounds a bit ragged.
I'm still using 8292 and probably will until the next build is released.

    UPDATE

Listened to these for a few hours today and my initial reservations have gone, they are good drivers :)

    Hi,

No idea how these engineers at RT do it but they turn drivers into little EQs or so it seems.
To my aging ears 8279 seems to have struck a good balance overall. Used to hear sounds over 24KHz when I was younger, no idea what it's like now I turned 60. LOL....

    Cheers,

Have you tried 8292 Frank ? I'd appreciate your opinion on them.

    Hi,

Yes, @DooGie, I did. I have two machines deploying the same RT chip. I still prefer 8279.

It sounds better balanced to me. But your ears may prefer different.
You know, although audio is a science at the end of the day we choose whatever we like. Speaker aren't ruler flat either, neither are rooms.

    Cheers,
I agree and haven't updated since 8279. Everything sounds well-balanced to me.

For the guys who want to add the Realtek HD Audio Manager to the Control Panel, I wrote a REG file that adds it no matter what driver you have installed.

    I thought I'd share this.
I personally don't need this, but I hope that those who've had the missing Manager find this useful.
    Thanks.
