Completely missing the S/PDIF connection in Sound/Playback

I am trying to connect a S/PDIF device to my computer for the first time today and upon inspection of my audio section, I don't seem to even have a S/PDIF connection at all visible there.

My motherboard is a Asus Strix Z270F and it uses realtek audio drivers. I have installed the latest BIOs and Realtek drivers and there has been no change.

View disabed and disconnected devices is enabled but all I have is "realtek digital output" and no optical or S/PDIF. Google is hell with no results at all when I search for this problem.

Appears that your Motherboard fails on S/PDIF. Why 5.1 not working ?

Actually got it working with a different optical cable? The one it came with might have been faulty. No idea but 5 hours later it suddenly works I am not complaining. The "Realtek Digital Audio" was the SPDIF connection but I wasn't sure it was it since it didn't work previously. Thanks!
