Windows Updates Mess up my Audio

I'm running windows 10, have realtek audio. Whenever it updates the audio goes crazy, meaning if watching a movie the voices can barely be heard if at all, but music, gunshots, crashes or anything like that is loud enough for the neighbors to hear, and I have neighbors over two acres away. I have to find new drivers each time. On the realtek manufacturer site the drivers never work. Most of the time I get the best drivers from an HP site. Anybody know any resolution to this or am I getting new speakers? Thank you for your replies.

Hi, I've seen this sort of pattern reported with various drivers in build 1803. Is that the build you have?
Note: your system specs exclude your PC model and windows build

A reasonable guess is that some hardware is either somewhat old or for some other reason has a particular driver allocated to it by MS. In some cases, MS replaces a specific driver with the default from Windows, as if no vendor specific driver is registered. Perhaps in your case, an inappropriate one is allocated.

If your hardware is older, and you have upgraded to an OS which no longer fully supports your hardware, then you have 2 basic options:
    a. update the hardware (have you checked with the manufacturer?)
    b. hope the driver supplied is updated and/or registered with MS

Otherwise you might need to find a way to create a task which runs after an update to reinstall a suitable driver.

However, if the driver is in fact being specifically updated by Windows update, that can be blocked. But I think you are referring to general Windows updates.

open the sound properties > playback > speaker properties > disable all enhancements (sometimes sound effects)
microsoft want to be able to control all enhancements and sound effects on upcoming builds and they are doing it slowly and its breaking older drivers formerly compatible with windows 10 , so try that solution out and see if it works

Thanks for the replies. I did find again to reinstall the driver I got from HP support fixes the issue. During the general updates it gets deleted so I just reinstall it. My computer is not old at all so all hardware, and OS came preinstalled.
