Low sound volume?

    No Stereo Mix, unfortunately.
    According to your experience, is there a "recommended" version of the Realtek HD Audio, you would suggest?

    I'm using the version that is on the Realtek site.

    Some vendors disabled the Stereo Mix function in their hardware. I have a Toshiba laptop that originally came with Win 8.1 and there is no Stereo Mix option in it. But the audio works OK on Win 10. I also have a 2017 Dell Inspiron 15 5577 model laptop that uses Realtek and it has the Stereo Mix function.

    When working on someone else's Notebook/Laptop I have to keep in mind the hardware setting of the Fn key plus another key, usually F1 through F12 or the arrow keys, for setting before Windows can set the level desired. On mine I usually set the hardware to 75% the turn it down in Windows.

    My wife's laptop came with Windows 7 and my Sister-n-Laws laptop came with Windows 8.1. I wonder if the laptops being Toshiba's could have anything to do with it. Another thing I don't understand is when I go into the sound settings and try any of the event sounds the volume is ok.

    Might try this.

    With sound playing right click on the speaker in notification area. At the top click on volume mixer. There are individual columns for each type of sound, system sounds etc.

    My wife isn't having any issues with her Toshiba Notebook.

Low sound volume

Since going from Win8 to Win10 tech preview I have had to increase my volume a lot more than before to hear anything. Has anyone else had sound volume issues with Win10? thanks
