    Where is microphone boost?

Does anybody know what's happened to or where the microphone boost settings are in Win 10 1803? Usually it's found in Control panel/Sound/Recording/Microphone Properties. Usually there is an option to boost the mic in db...

I have a ROG Maximus VIII Hero M/B. There is no mic volume on mine. Mine came with Sonic Studio II and there are some adjustments there that "might" affect mic volume. I don't use a PC mic so I don't know if the Sonic Studio II adjustments are for playback only or also for "recording". (I use my PC for my recording studio and use recording studio interfaces and mic's but that's a different story).

FWIW, I've seen PC sound systems over the years with a mic "boost" and some without. I don't know if it is a function of the sound vendor's drivers, the PC vendor's application of the sound hardware or Windows.

I am configuring the mic on a laptop. The number 4 window in Cliff's screenshot used to have a mic boost setting towards the bottom on the window, you could boost the db. It appears like it could be change in Win 10 1803 i.e. no longer there, but I'm uncertain if this was a Windows feature or a vendor feature.

I realised that the sound device on the laptop which I've just installed 1803 onto had Microsoft drivers loaded and not vendor drivers. I installed the vendor drivers but still can't find that mic boost setting in the Microphone Properties window. I'll have another snoop tomorrow.
