The Original Classic Shell 4.3.1 works fine in 1809 and 19H1.

Thanks, I know. But the point is this: Classic and Open Shell showed the same symptoms for me. (I tried installing CS in place of OS). Started with my last weeks with 1709, I believe after the driver was upgraded by Windows Update. I then upgraded to 1809, hoping the problem would disappear.

As I said, so far upgrading the driver seems to have resolved this- but more time needed.

As per the Classic Shell forum, for some users in some cases, the explorer hang problem was a recognised issue- I posted a link.

Generalisations like 'it works' mean (I think- correct me if I'm wrong) 'it works in my experience on my PCs'.

That doesn't mean it works for all users in all cases without problems. The cases I've seen on the Classic Shell forum demonstrate that.

It works perfect as always on all my four pc's. Two desktops and my kids two laptops. No program or software works for every system as everybody messes with their system in different ways.

The contention issues I've seen are to do with drivers. It started with a driver offered by Windows update.

I guess that's messing with my system.

    Example on the forum: Realtek.

I do not use the explorer or IE feature of CS.

I don't either. How would I use those? I would like to test just to see although I never use them.

Good idea- I tried reinstalling CS /OS without those (well, modifying the installation options) - no change.

CS's forum explains the hang bug as related to it scanning the content of certain folders - e.g. .cpl files.

Just did that and it opened up instantly. Is that what it is suppose to do if working correctly?
