So far, Classic Shell 4.3.1 is working fine on all my FCU w10 PCs.
Basically I believe that M$ is treating it's Insiders with contempt. Buildfeedis now up to 17079 compiled last Saturday. This is the first time I can remember that D.S. or one of her minions has not said wether or not there will be a build this week. Perhaps tomorrow she will say "no builds today or Friday - have a great weekend" or somethiing to that effect.
I tried Stardock's Start 10 already had a forced windows explorer crash pinning shortcuts to the start menu and two random stopped working crashes when trying to customize the program. I went back to Classic Shell.
From my notes (which are the result of a quick look so could be wrong)
- configurable search - no (whereas CS's is)
- expandable multicolumn across screen- no (CS can do this) - very useful for large start menus
- expandable Control Panel - yes
- search files - quite fast
- deeply nested start menus (several folders deep) - yes (Win 10's = no)
- options for start button - yes
- wrongly shows Hibernate (Hibernate was disabled)
- can't add folders (can with CS)
- Can get to show Win 10 style with tiles after logoff.
- No rt click options on Programs. (can with CS)
I will have to try it. I will create a Macrum image before messing around with it though just in case. It has to be better than that POS Start10 with its random explorer crashes and start10 has stopped working while trying to use and configure the program.
