Microsoft cares about two major things in my opinion.

    1. Making money
    2. Keeping as many customers they can happy.

    No happy customers=no money.

Many times I don't understand or agree with what Microsoft does but I do believe they want happy customers, just like any other company does.
Point 1. You are spot on Jack...as much as they can, as quick as they can!
Point 2. From what I can see and hear, there may be a minority of "happy customers" but the great number of desktop users are being left in the wake of M$$ developers' constant need to justify their positions by fixing what aint broke. Reason?? See point 1.

Thanks for moving my post over, Shawn. I deleted it. Did a search, but came up with nothing. Didn't go back far enough I guess.

Anywho, sparked some interest again I guess.

It's not dead yet, being open source, someone is bound to give it a go.

Agreed +2. @Ivo probably has been in touch with several who would love to carry it on and forward. 4.3.1 is stable as a rock here. Even on the most wacko Insider build. :)

I hope the guy from WinAero would continue it. He often made skins and stuff for ClassicShell.

I switched to StartIsBack++2.5.2 - a whopping $2.99, there's also Stardock's Start 10 for $4.99. I am using StartIsBack at present on one of my pc's and like it so far. Will switch other pc and laptop if it comes down to it (if MS updates Windows 10 so Classic Shell Start Menu doesn't work).

I'd try in compatibility mode for 8 or 7 before I'd give up on it. I've even got Standalonestack2 still running, if anybody ever heard of that. Old Win 7 gem.

    Classic Shell download | SourceForge.net

It can be found here and it works great.
