I've managed to quit using the start menu apps a few years ago and have no qualms with my setup now. In fact, it's how I would prefer it at this point.
I definitely prefer Classic Shell Start Menu and the way I can customize it to keep everything I want to access in quick and easy reach. Other ways of getting to things feel clumsy and often overly involved to me.

Same for me. I hope somebody can update Classic Shell Start Menu to keep it working indefinitely.

I agree - I have tried StartIsBack and Stardock's Start 10 and they are ok, but I prefer Classic Shell Start because it is so easy to customize and use. I have Windows 10 MS Start Menu configured, but it's still not my preference. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens. The way my current desktop looks is part of my preference for Classic Shell.

I just reinstalled Start 10 which has to do as the W10 start menu is horrible.
Here is why I can't use the W10 start menu. I can't pin items to the left. I can't pin them with the names in list mode.

Although Microsoft abandoned Quick Launch some time ago, it's still there if you know how to set it up. With each clean install, I set up my most used apps, and also use Microsoft's menu.

Someone asked for an alternative so I provided one.
