Download/Install button missing in Windows Store

This problem was brought up a couple of years ago, and apparently resolve in a Windows update. However, I just picked up a new HP notebook yesterday. After spending the day scratching the surface on installing software, I went to the Windows Store, and found that the download (or Get)/Install buttons were not there. I have two other Windows 10 computers, one with Win 10 1703, and one with 1709. The store is fine on both of them. The new one is on 1703.

I've tried previously posted suggestion, wsreset, troubleshooter, checking the date and time, and non of those work.

    Help!

    Hello Jeff, :)

Did you already check in the 3 dots menu for the "Downloads and updates" option to then see "Get updates" there?

The Get Updates button updates apps that are already installed. I'm set up for automatic updates, but I pressed it anyway just because you suggested it. My problem is the missing Get - Install - Launch button.

I was hoping that you may have had an update for the Store to sort it for you.

A repair install is a bit drastic, but it should normally fix this for you without losing anything.

There is a tech at Microsoft remotely working on it as I type. I'll let you know what happens. I'm kind of thinking that an update to 1709 might work, but I'm holding off on that.

Well, he just started the 1709 update. I put that on my tablet last week, and it ran for hours. He's got me on mute, so I can't say anything.

He said he couldn't stay on the line while this thing ran all night. He thinks it will work, and I think it has a chance, so we'll see. I'll get back to you.

The update just completed. I'm on 1709 now, but no joy with the Store problem. It's the same :-(
